Are you armed with a laser pointer?

Superglue often isn't the best to use, its fumes will leave a residue on optics especially if it sets in confined spaces. This is why cyanoacrylate is used to set fingerprints (tho a heater or sodium hydroxide is used to convert more liquid into fumes).
Of course it may have also been the alignment of your crystals.

On topic- I often carry a tiny Blu-ray keychain build
Either my CRKT m16-13 srt (re-anodized in black) or some small utility knive/tool

Not really, but I always carry a pen with me.

I just got a 200mW 405nm pen from Awesomelasers, and I pretty much carry it everywhere. I also have a knife, in case the batteries die. :eg:

What kind of knife? I like assisted open but I'm really fond of skeletonized handle/blade designs & the CRKT m16-13 is the best I've come across. Its slim / narrow for its blade length & fairly light weight, also things I like in a knife.

Swiss Army. It's more a tool than a weapon, but it's too useful to be without.
