The new xbox diodes are red read only diodes which are worthless low power diodes.

I doubt it. it's not worth the work to use the diode from a 360

No. The only good laser diodes were from the HD drives. Its much cheaper to buy a phr diode. than to rip an Xbox apart for one

Ok while we are here, i dont want to make a new topic, and im new to lasers so i have some quick questions. Thanks by the way.

1. I dont own a soldering iron and i dont want to buy one, can i make a laser without one?

2. Do you think if i found a diode at my house i would have to buy anything else, or can i find everything to build a laser at my house?

3. Would a dvd player for my tv, be good to make a laser from?

Thanks a lot guys

1. Probably not, you can buy a cheap soldering iron for 20$ You can buy pre-made lasers on the forums
FS: Full 1.2W+ kit and fully built laser! $129.99

2. You would need a driver, you can buy one, or make one yourself, but you would need a soldering iron.

3. Generally read-only diodes are very low power and wont do much. DVD writers/ Blue-Ray have good diodes, I would reccomend buying an XJ-A140 projector diode off of someone on the forums.
