So i was thinking of getting an x-series 125 from NOVA lasers, but i already have a fusion from WickedLasers that runs up to spec. But i want an x-series, because.. well it's just looks nice, with its case and stuff. But would there be any huge difference between the 2? Would it be very stupid of me to get another laser that does the same stuff? If there isn't a huge difference then i probably wouldnt buy it. I would like to get sum opinions o_0

if you got the fusion executive from WL, then there will be a HUGE difference in burning abilities.
The beam from the x-series is much thinner, making up close burning easy.
Even if your fusion can light a match unaided (which I doubt), the X-125 will make the fusion look like a joke when you measure how much time each one takes to light one.

only downside is x-125's are very rare, they will never be in stock because there is a long waiting list. You have to pay now to be on the waiting list. Once you're on the list, expect to wait a month +.

Dittos on the above post!

On the other hand Alpha 125's are usually available at nova.

Don't know If you'd be interested in one of those..

I'd go with the x series-125 for it's burning abilities and also being able to access the lens on the front for cleaning with ease. All in all a very practical laser to own :)

I would go with something bigger than the x-125 and for burning i would go with optotronics with a really nice beam diameter, if you have the money to have two x-125s go with the biggest laser you possible can.

even the X-105 is great, and a lot cheaper. the main difference between a fusion and an X series (ignoring the absurd price and frequent quality problems of the fusion) is the beam specs, the X series has a thinner beam diameter and a bigger divergence. as me_too_lazy pointed out, this makes close up burning a lot easier. that, and nova's site says battery lifetime is 2-3 hours rather than WL's stated 90 minutes. and welcome to LPF, meepo :)

what do you guys think, should i sell my fusion and get an x-series? Or keep my fusion, and sell my phoenix and evo 35 o_0. If anyone wants to buy them make an offer! I assure you they are in spec, but i dont know the output o_0

Well there is sense in having two laser that do the same job, I suggest if you want a X series for the look, just get a medium powered module, like a 85mW.

Yeah... and I have a cat gill with 4 legs instead of 3 ::)

The output is one of the specs, dude.

The output is one of the specs, dude.[/quote]when i said it was in spec, i mean that it does everything the wl site states it can do,

also

Hence the "but", meaning everything to my knowledge is in spec, but i dont know the output

The X125 will burn better than the fusion because of beam diameter, but the downside of the tighter beam diameter up close means higher divergence. If you sell anything sell the 35mW and 75mW, and save up to get an RPL from optotronics.

nobody said the divergence was superb on the x125
1.2mRad is acceptable

what makes the x125 different is the tiny beam diameter
