Those lasers will probably be horribly underspec since they are from a Chinese drop shipper. You might get a laser that might pop a balloon but i doubt it will even be able to light a match.

Anything 100mw and over will burn on both of these sites, and they have good reputation.

Yes. Pretty well actually. It won't be much bright, as 405nm is not much visible.
But it will pop balloons, burn through CD case in about 10 seconds, light a match, burn wood and possible even white paper.
It won't set things aflame (except extremely flammable ones).
Also for burning you should get some safety glasses, especially because 405nm is deceivingly not bright.

PS. Of course only in case it's up to specs. Direct diode lasers are usually up to specs though. It's simply not easy to make them under specs, as it is with green DPSS lasers.

You would think that to be the case... and yet most of the diode lasers sold by drop shippers are still underspec.

No one that got the DD waterproof 445nm got anywhere near 1W for example.

Trusting a dropshipper on power claims is like playing the lottery, but with slightly better odds IMO.

This reminds me when I first started using lasers, I would believe sites like this and all the other Chinese drop shippers beacuse I had never buaght anything from China. I didnt even think of the possibilty that a seller would lie. Untill my 4th shitty laser, then I learned. :san:

Well 1W is surely a problem. You need decent driver, heatsink, and so on. But 200 mW should be fine. Yes, it is a lottery, but the chances are high.

On the other hand, I can only recommend o-like. Sure thing !
