Originally this is what got me interested in them and it is still a big factor. Now I find myself completely absorbed with building them. I like to know the inner workings; different diodes, wavelengths, current, optics, etc.. It's rewarding to build one of these from the ground up and have it work! :yh:
I agree with the wow factor. I saw the beam of my 200mW green being so bright and said "Holy...shiii" and played with it for a bout an hour straight, keeping the 60 on rule...The brightness of the beam just amazed me, and it still does a month later. And I like them as flashlights. so why do I like lasers? Beams and burning.
Because laser beams are uniquely pretty, in such a way that they have "moths to a bug light" attractiveness.
"So the other day, I was out on the highway, and this moron decides to cut me off and slam on his breaks. I mean, can you believe the nerve of some of these ass. . ."
Science has always fascinated me, and coherent light in a myriad of colors shot forth from a device that can fit into a shoebox is just incredible. And lasershows, those are just pure, unrefined awesome.
For me I'm fascinated also by fire and other lights like LED and bright Lamps
But what so special is about Laser is the Beam that can stay very collimated and seen over kilometers
You can shine the beam on a ladies boobies from across the bar.
If she smiles you have a chance, even a conversation starter.
Do not use this after 10 beers though, because the only target you'll be able to hit and keep on is a very large woman, you'll find this out the following morning.
