Why can't we raise $400 in donations?

I'm constantly surprised that we always seem to come up short on our very low
donations goal. This month it's a measly $400. I realize many of you are young, going to school whatever. But really guys, are you not getting a dollars worth of fun and information? I've saved a lot of money just finding reputable dealers. Let alone learning so much. I just kicked in $10. Nothing really, but I'm older and make decent money. I believe we have thousands of members. What's up guys?

Well, we have an average of around 260 members online daily, which isn't exactly a lot. Sure, if everyone donated 5$ a month we would easily reach the goal, but not nearly everyone donates, or only does it once in a while. It's just how it works.

Also, like you said, some of us are still young, and some don't even have ways of making an online payment.

I decided to start donating $1 a month(will increase this amount in the future months) to help support this great forum and the people on it!

I currently am trying to save up enough money to fix an expensive part of my car. Fortunately, I got a raise at work but I still need to be careful with how I spend my hard-earned cash

I have only been a member for 4 months but I give a small donation each month.
This month of October I gave a donation and noted that it was for the contest, now maybe those donations are not counted against the monthly total yet as they are special?
I'm not sure, but maybe they will show a list for the contest or an end total after the drawing.
I expected the drawing will bring in more donations.

Between laser chicks donation contest this month and the one I'll be doing next month, I still cant believe its not rising just from that! It's usually just the same few members donating every month.! Money is tight for people not to mention when your in the middle of a build! Hopefully it picks up soon, I myself plan on making bigger donations in the months to come!

Maybe if a donation of 5 bucks opened up more areas or some kind of extras this might generate more income? Or even two bucks?

Thanks for the reminder. I just donated 5$. I think many members such as myself simply forget.
I try to donate each month. This forum gives me hours of good reading and discussions every day. Wish I could do more but I do what I can.

I'm hoping that once I get older with more responsibilities such as a job etc., I can open a bank account, start a paypal, and donate. Hopefully this won't be too far away.

How old are you Gabe? If you aren't old enough to open a bank account I am quite impressed by your maturity. I never would have guessed.

The ad revenue pays for the forum quite a few times over so it's no biggie. I've seen a lot of potential donators trolled off of the forum so that can't help either.
I'll try to donate though.

To be honest half of this site is ads, I remember when the front page was so filled with ads that you had to scroll down the entire length of your screen before you could see the actual forums.. I have a hard time understanding how they need donations on top of that to cover the costs.. That being said I have donated a few times, but I don't do it every month.

When you say trolled off, do you mean flamed or tired of the trolls. The word troll seems mean different things to different people. I thought a troll was a person intentionally making threads and comments to stir up drama or controversy usually from an acc intended for that purpose.

Because im cheap i never donate to forum sites i dont see the point, i think if they need more money they should have ads i wouldnt mind that, and not many people are gonna donate to random forums call me cheap but 400$ a month is alot tho and the amount of active members here isnt much these days. I mean sure i could donate one month 10$ but then the next month or 2 we will see again donations low so that would mean i should feel forced donate again ? this is why i dont donate..

Why can't we raise $400 in donations?
