Hi! First of all I'm a noob. So i tough that all lasers worked with 18650 batteries.....

so i was thinking since I don't see a difference between 18650 and 16340(other than size)

what will happen if I put 1 18650 battery in one laser that works with 2 16340? will it work? his "life" will be reduce?

and what will happen if the laser works with only 1 16340 battery?

Thanks

If it requires the extra voltage from two batteries then one cell won't be enough. It'll be dim but AFAIK it won't reduce the life.

Putting a 18650 in place of 2x 16340s is fine, you just get a severely minimized output. Doing the reverse is strongly discouraged as common sense would tell. But if you use just one 16340 with some sort of adapter/battery extender it would be about the same as one 18650 I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, everyone..

No you're right. It's just a higher capacity. It may be able to handle higher current draw but it won't give anymore than the driver takes.
