What's the deal with Wicked Lasers?

I want to start off by saying that I'm new to lasers and I am currently learning the terminology and specs of certain lasers. Before purchasing a great starter laser from Ebay with the help of this forum, I did a lot of research about lasers. It didn't take long for the name "Wicked Lasers" to come up. I was greeted with a lot of good reviews, but on this forum I've heard only negative comments about the company. Can anyone please clarify what's so bad about them? I'm interested in their Nano Green model, but I don't want to waste my money if there is something similar for a better price.

Yes. While I can't personally attest to their quality, you can get the same power for significantly cheaper. I'd suggest Sci-Fi Lasers - had a GREAT experience with him (and he's a member here)

Yeah I saw that name come up a lot too. I'll probably be getting their green laser next.

Alot of members (including myself) know how much it costs to build a laser, and we know how a laser SHOULD be made. Wicked lasers for example is charging $600 for a 2W laser that is not even made to a VERY GOOD standard. It looks good, but when you take it apart, they use minimal thermal glue etc which is simply bad. I can build a 3W laser in a custom made host for under $200 just to put it into perspective.

Yeah, they sure don't fall short in production. I think that's why a lot of people get loured in. Like I almost was.

^i guess when you make lasers by the hundred there usually would have to be some time cutting taking place... But i AM considering buying their TORCH. For $200, that actually looks like a good deal considering i paid $110 for a flashlight of less than half it's power :)

Yeah, the torch sparked my interest. I heard it's quite the burner.

sflasers.com, o-like.com, and lazerer.com are good places to get decent lasers for a decent price.

True, but i have never built a HID flashlight before... I would prefer just to buy one for $200 because unlike lasers it is just something i want not something i particularly like :D

The torch isn't HID, it's halogen. You can pick the bulbs up at a hardware store for a few bucks. I think they're 500 or 100W from memory.

I didnt realize it wasn't HID... In that case i may look into building my own torch. AFAIK 100W halogen vs 100W HID, The HID will be ALOT more visible.

I can't get onto ebay right now for some reason, but if you google "10,000 lumen flashlight" and follow the links you should find them. Will either have 9 LEDs or be HID. IIRC you can get them for as low as $175-ish.

I have a 7 Led XML T 6 8500 lumen torch by trustfire model Tr-j18 ( along with others) that cost 70 dollars uses 3 18650 or 26650 batteries and is at least as bright as both my high beams halogens on my car and that's without going to higher powered ones i have with more leds in them .Plenty of great torches on eBay at great prices.
