That thing's expensive. But i believe GBD is machining a heatsink for it.

Im still working on that very host :)

Almost done, I just need some parts to arive so I can finish it (got knows how long that will take with canada post just getting back from strike). The seller desided to wait until after the strike to send stuff.

Ill post a the build later this month I guess.

Not sure, I'd say at best maybe, and I do mean maybe 1W, but i dought it would run that considering it only holds 2 AAA or 2 10440's and if we're talking 445nm, you're only looking at 750mA at best and that would be if our Li-ions are a 2c discharge.

Your not going to get much better than 500mW from a 445 running off 10440's and have any kind of useful battery life. You have to remember that even 'good' AW 10440's are only 350mAh, and running them in series adds the voltages, not capacities.. So even with two, you'd still just have 350mAh.

Correct and I realize that, but I said 750mA due to, Li cells having a certain "C" rating which in RC cars indicates roughly a peak current draw, so in the case of a 10440, lets say it has 350mAh and a 3C discharge rating ( Iknow i said 2 C in the previous post, but I realize I made a wrong guess at 2C which would have been 700mA not 750mA) anyways you take the 350mAh X 3 =1150mAh, however keep in mind that, that rating is generaly refered to as a 3sec or 10sec burst otherwise the battery will burst but still only at 7.4v but for long runtimes you'd most likely be stuck with 350mAh at 7.4v could stick a buck converter in there to hold the voltage at 6V and you may be able to get 400mAh out of them, but in the interest of a small host I think a 445nm @ 500mW would be good for a practicle yet portaqble burning laser, I mean honestly I know if I wanted an all mighty portable powerhouse I'd just buy a 6D mag-lite, use a buck converter to get some extra Ah out of the batteries and get a very custom heatsink/head that would hold 5 or more 445, use some first surface mirrors and a g1 lens at the end, and basicly have a baseball bat that if I miss you with it physicaly the laser will cut you in half ( over exagerating).

Er.. There are no 'tricks' to getting more capacity out of a battery. If you want longer run times, you lower the current draw of the load.

Multiple drivers.. which I think is what your getting at.. will only compound the problem, since the drivers consume power as well.

I have miss communicated somewhere along the line plus so far I have hi-jacked the thread so before I confuse both of us or start giving out incorrect info, I'm dropping the conversion and may pick it up in pm's.
