Routine checkup to update my contact lens prescription.

She noticed one thing, My irises have lost some pigmentation. It is a leakage of the pigmentation in the iris into other parts of the eye. It is believed to be caused by the lens rubbing on the iris, the shape of the iris or something congenital.

Mine is not serious, but something to keep an eye on... No pun intended.

The big concern is that over time the drainage system of the eye can become blocked causing higher eye pressure and the onset of pigmentary glaucoma.

Interestingly, my pressure was down from about 20mm (two years ago) to 17-18mm this time. The range for normal pressure is 12-22 mm Hg (“mm Hg” refers to millimeters of mercury, a scale used to record eye pressure). Most glaucoma cases are diagnosed with pressure exceeding 20mm Hg.

I did not specifically ask her whether my laser hobby could be a factor, but I think that I will on my next appointment. My googling hasn't revealed any correlation.

Other than that, which she seems very unconcerned about and she reassured me several times that it was just something she brought up to have in my records to check next time, my eyes were great! (except, of course, that I have to wear contacts!)

I should point out that I am in my mid-40's and my vision isn't going to be getting better anyway. All you young kids on here have that to look forward to! I have been wearing contacts since college and started at about -1.00 prescription, I am up to -2.25 now.

It would definitely be interesting to have anyone post any abnormalities or irregularities in their eye checkups to see if there was a common problem that surfaced in our group.

For instance, if ten people posted, "Hey, I have that pigmentation leakage too!" then it might raise a red flag for us as a community. If that makes sense.

I went also to an eye doctor a month ago and she said nothing about eye pressure.
I am also mid 40 and have some dry eyes. It has to with my work and I don't think it is laser related.
Getting years isn't also good for the eyes. I can feel that my eyes is getting old. At least not younger :)

Nah, lasers would have nothing to do with that.

I ask the eye doctors if they see any laser burns when I go. They give me funny looks.

You should feel like a lucky man. I also wear contacts, although I'm only 20 years old, my prescription is -4.50 :cryyy:
Maybe our eyes will actually get better from all the laser exposure ;) just kidding of course

So far nothing bad with my eyes. Just that I piss the Man off when I get around to going in
When I am out of contacts. I wear glasses now.
But the reason I make him upset is by my prescription changing back and forth.
Sounds stupid dont it.

I got tired of my many hobbies a long while ago and thought about how much lies and
B.S. we are fed everyday by the world. First thing that came to mind was the optometrist. If we all see great he/she is out of a job.

Long story short I had my old prescription from back in 2004 I wore them for a about a month. I would wear my newest prescription for the drive to and from work only.
After a months time I seen better with my old glasses than my new ones.

I would go back and forth from old to new back and forth lol.
As long as i dont break them I should be fine lol.
If only i could talk the man to get me a couple of different prescriptions.

I know this all sounds stupid but it worked for me.
I dont know about everyone else but every time i got a new
prescription it was always a little stronger and stronger.
Never leveled out like the man said it would.

Do you mean to say you distrust people that benefit from a need you have? Like everyone in the medical profession, as well as tutors, police, therapists... everyone in food service?

You know, it's funny, I was just reading an article recently that DHS considers people who distrust centralized authority, and are strongly in favor of individual freedoms, as terrorists.

I also get funny looks when I ask them to check for laser damage:p
