The $value$ of housing with safety features?

Hi there, friends

I'm comparing a couple different handheld lasers here but I am interested in your opinions/experience. I really do like the idea of having a keyed safety switch. However, it seems if I eliminate that requirement, I can get more power for my money elsewhere.

I guess what I am asking is, do those of you with safety switches ever regret having them (i.e. they get annoying)? Do those without the added feature ever wish it was there?

Thanks!

I don't personally have my laser yet but have a keyed unit in the way.

I have an 8yro son though and he's very, very curious, sneaky, and loves to play with dad's stuff. So for me this was a very worthwhile investment. The more difficult it is for him to get his hands on it and operate it the better!

* worst case scenario if it became that big of an inconvenience you could just leave it unlocked?
