Hey all,

i purchased an Ultrafire WF-188 , however this charger is too fiddly, and doesnt charge 95% of the time. wether its a faulty charger i dont know, but regardless the design seems very poor.

batteries i need to be able to charge are

CR2
16340
18650

what can you guys reccomend me ?

Thanks :)

You must have got a bad charger. Mine is perfect, works 110% of the time and works perfectly

I have the safe thing, and it's the only charger I ever need, use, or will ever own

Also you must not know how to use it if you say the design is bad and hard to use. You must not be doing it right?
It's very easy. You stick a battery in, plug it in. And it charges. instantly.

I have had quite a few of those and have only had one that had a problem. One side would not charge so I took it apart and fiddled with the track and it now works great. I am surprised to hear it is not charging correctly. I assume you have tried it with several different batteries?

Also I am sure you are aware but there is a selector switch for the charger to charge 3.2V and 3.7V. What is yours set to?

It is the only charger I know of that will work with the larger batteries like the 32650's.

The positive end might not be making contact try a tiny magnet out of a Sled..That works on Mine.

Cant they replace it free? You got it from DX? If not then how about this: Orbtronic - Charger for 18650 CR123A 16340 17670

yes it can be replaced for free, i got it from an online trader in New Zealand, not DX, because i did not want to wait ~2 weeks for a charger.

i guess the reason i say this is because the battery can easily move from side to side, however i assume as long as the contacts are touching it should be fine. ?

I've tried with about 10 different batteries, ranging from 3volt cr2 (charging on 3.2V) and 3.7v 18650 and 3.7v 16340. both sides have the same issue

i dont have a sled :( i wonder where else i can get a small magnet

Anything that will complete the connection. You can also try some kind of spacer on the negative end to push the batteries in further.

I have 2 of those and both were purchased from DX.

1st. Doesnt charge all the time and when it does... only charges the batteries to 4.0V
2nd. Second one works perfectly and charges them to 4.2V

I have been told the DX ones are a real crapshoot, however if you get the same charger from Lighthound... it will work perfectly.

thanks, but im looking for a solution where i dont have to wait ~2 weeks, i have an LPM arriving this week and im impatient, its been hard enough waiting for this LPM, but to not be able to use that for another 2 weeks due to dead batteries would be annoying!!!

tinfoil mod did not help at all sadly.

i guess ill have to pay a premium and try and find someone in NZ who sells 16340 battery chargers.

The only one I have gotten I got from lighthound, and it works perfect 110% of the time

You pull the battery negative slide down, put your battery in, and let the negative slide push the battery up to where the positive and negative are touching their contact points to charge

If the positive and negative aren't touching the contacts it wont charge, if they are touching and it will not charge then the charger is bad

That is DSD battery charger . Orbtronic will stop selling them because of hit and miss results.DSD manufacturer doesn't have best quality control. Just saying this from my experience with DSD chargers.

I would highly recommend another model that can charge CR2 or CR123 batteries without need to use those funny magnets (spacers). Two sliding terminals on the negative side is the great idea . You can see it here:

CR123 or CR2 Rapid Battery Charger

As I previously said DSD is a hit and miss quality. Once you order 400-500 pcs you will probably know ;)

Australian new laws are not stupid at all. You are just paying a big price for some stupid things done by irresponsible AU laser owners. Pointing high power laser at the cockpit must be punishable by any law. I hope we agree on this one.

Cheers
