Hello,
I have just purchased a 4-6W 915nm IR laser diode,
and I was wondering if any of you have a schematics for a working driver that's good for 5A-8A current at 1.8v, and has TTL modulation input.

Also if you know someone who has built such driver... I would appreciate your help.

I have designed a working driver, but it's good up to 2A max.

Thank you for your help. :yh:

Look on the LM317 datasheet. There you'll find they say that if you want more than 1.5A, there is another chip for it. That chip should work. Try to find it yourself, I don't have much time now ;)

Well, that really does not help me because the LM317 does NOT have a TTL input.

It's quite easy to power the diodes, but doing so with ttl modulation is a bit harder.

I am sure someone has found the right combination of ICs to achieve higher currents in the 8A range, and have a reliable driver.

I am finding very little information on such drivers, I am learning by trial and error, and don't konw enough about electronics to easily understand how to modify a circuit to allow higher power than the IC is rated for.

One way to do it would be by separating the diode supply from the chip providing the TTl modulation

As an example, I thought about using a Mosfet rated up to 30A and use a different IC that has TTL modulation to send 5v to the gate of the mosfet whenever there is input.
If there's someone expert in electronics who can give me a hand then great.
