Trouble perceiving 445, how do you guys see it?

Strangely I cannot focus on the dot of a 445, which people say is a trait of 405, 445 looks mega purple too me and the dot is much dimmer than my probably 100mW greenie. Also, I cannot focus on THIS and have to highlight it to read it. Is this abnormal?

If you are going to say eye damage its not, when I was a noob with no lasers years ago I could still not read the blue text.

Would my northern euro genes effect this (blue eyes)?

So how do you guys see 445?

I haven't seen 445nm yet but maybe my experience might be of interest :D

I can see all the wavelengths in my signature perfectly fine! Starting with my 473nm though that's when my eyes start to see it more as a blurry dot then as a clear dot on for example my other pointers! As you can imagine my 405nm is even worse, it's & Im not joking when I say this, just a huge violet dot in which I need to squint my eyes to see the dot itself ;)

Thanks for chiming on on 473 since not may people have those . 405 never appealed to me much, but they have some pretty awesome capabilities to make up for the lack of visibility.

its normal if you have a 1w or stronger not be able to focus, too strong to eyes for that.

this was about 25 meters on a dark matte surface, wouldn't dare getting any closer  eagle pair was straight back on right after that

445nm is harder to focus than green or red, but it shouldn't be completely defocused either. If it's a total blur (not a slightly fuzzy line) at 25m you might be on the thin end of the blue perception curve. Probably not damage, just genetic variation.

Order a cheap 405nm pen and compare them.

@3Pig, I can't focus well either. In fact, I have been highlighting also, to read that color of purple text. I can't seem to focus enough to read the details.

It's easy like this

But not like this.

What 445nm blue laser do you have? If its something from eBay, it is quite possible that someone might have just used a violet diode instead of a blue one due to the much cheaper cost. In that case, you might just be seeing a plain violet laser.

Though, you could see the colors slightly different than what others see.
I see my skylasers 445nm 1w as a deep blue. I only see purple in the dot if I point the laser at a tree in the distance.

As for my 405nm eBay pen, it seemed nice and dark purple.
I had some of my family members and a couple friends come out and describe the dot/beam of my blue and violet lasers and we all seemed to see it the same. Now I do agree that a lot of us see some colors of the spectrum slightly different, but I think that some of the biggest differences are in the laser itself.

Maybe you could get some friends to come over and describe the dot/beam too and if all of you say it looks violet, its probably violet.

I'd even say at a long distance 532 gets a little distorted looking. 473 does at less distance, 445 distorts at a short distance, and 405 does unless its right up in your face.

Its a custom m140 build @1.1a, just thought it was strange because my camera makes it look light blue.

As for my 532, can see the dot clearly out to massive distance.

Anyway thanks for the replies

I def thinkin it was weird to see the slight aura around most of my spectrums when focused tight. When I got a little bit closer and tried to focus my eyes better i could see the perfect dot. It felt pretty hard on eyes. even with a cheap red. so I'm pretty sure its just my eyes going into safe mode. glad I have my eagles!
I think you being able to not see 445 text very well is probably a form of colorblind?

Hey .. you should use goggles with starting at 445nm dots .. and secondary luminescence in the goggles should make it pretty easy to focus to.

Anything past about 460 is considered violet spectrally. It shows up blue on the wall due to the intensity, but if you spread a 442-447nm laser out on a wall, or reflect and disperse it off a steel door or something, the line coming off of it is a blue-violet color. my 442 HeCd in particular looks blue, but as soon as I reflect it into/off something it's most definitely violet. my 447 and 450 are the same way. it seems to transition back at about 460nm before it is back to blue at lower power densities. Even most cameras pick up 445nm as violet usually unless there's some serious correction going on.

You gas guys have all the fun :p My camera picks up 445 like its 473.
