Those higher power green lasers like from DX for example use a 2w IR diode as the pump diode. Why couldn't you just go straight IR at 2w, it would be dangerous as hell but your goal would be achieved. Shoot I wouldn't want anyone living near me owning something like that unless they really knew how to handle invisible lasers.

Rather than spend a bunch of money, just buy a supply of 445 diodes in axiz modules and a nice cooling host, set up two drivers in parallel, use the G1 lens, and drive the thing at about 2 amps. It will probably live for many hours of usage time. When it dies, solder two connections and you're back in business.
Lets say you use the thing enough to burn it up in a year, at under $40 a diode each time its still the cheapest way to get 2watts.

Yeh well 2 a-140 diodes @ 1,2 Amp 4 volt will do a nice trick combined with a dichro... -pom pom- and you've more then 2 watt some ducktape to stick it on your head and run like a mofo till the cops catch you rofl !

WTH? I think we loose quite a bit between translations.

Hmmmm... Im not a newbie with lasers, though, i just got into them not too long ago. What i know is... Me + high power laser =

Friends/Family dont get to touch it AT ALL.
Laser + eye = fail/injury.
Dont point at reflective things, unless you know for a fact wheres it going to shine next, dont point at reflective-ish surfaces unless you know for a fact whats going to happen if you do.

Wear those special glasses(do you really have to? what if you dont and you shine a 1W+ laser at the wall or something? will it hurt to look at the beam or spot?)

Dont get caught with it in public or you get owned by popos..............

So yeah im not THAT big of a noob, im like... 40% noob 60% smarty pants.

Will it hurt to shine at your own skin with a 1W laser? burns?

Oh, WHICH WAVELENGTH BURNS BEST!?!?!?! 2nd BEST!?!?!

Are you aware that you will often have your face quite close when burning stuff?
And that reflection from it can be REALLY REALLY bad for your eyesight?

Your first laser will actually cost you both the price of the laser and the goggles for you and whoever you want to show off your burning to.

Ok, so basically, i cant look at the spot if its a high powered laser? Regardless if its mirror(obviously ill fry my eye out lawl) or wood it still is too bright and bad for my eyes?

N look, all i want to know, is which wavelength burns best. Is lower wavelength more burn power or higher?

All wavelengths have the same power. But for many materials some wavelength is best. Blue seem to be slight better on most surfaces. Infrared can burn some other surfaces.

And yes, with Class IV lasers the dot itself can be dangerous (it depends on material and distance). Read some basics about laser safety man. You should be scared as hell at the beginning. You don't seem to be yet.

Lol, i think people take lasers too serious, reallym i dont see anything to be afraid of. Dont let others touch the laser. Make sure when you click that power button on where that beam will shine. Wear glasses when laser is close and on brighter surfaces. The highest power ive seen, 5mW ROFL...

but anyways ill look into it more and check stuff out.. thx.

When you get a laser that causes paper to catch fire you'll know why people freak out. :lasergun:
