Funny story, i have actially in two different instances assisted the police by pointing my 2w blue in the direction of the purpotraitors. And neither cops ever stopped me.
purpotraitors

wow, I assume you mean perpetrator, alleged perpetrator would be better. I find this spelling of the word most peculiar to say the least. even if proven guilty, these alleged perpetrators probably do not deserve being blinded. cruel and unusual punishment, extrajudicially, PERPETRATED by YOU. If your story is true, which seems improbable at best. you do not posses sufficient intelligence, consideration, responsibilty, or self control to posses a 2W laser, please depart it from your possesion

probably a troll

it they do end up coming can they really prove you have a laser? can they prove you were there? unless your street is covered in hd cameras you should be fine,, they are not gonna get a warrant cause some paranoid lady freaks out and calls the cops (unless planes have been hit in your area maybe). she probably has called them plenty before for other stupid stuff.. like the squirrels out back are planning to steal her car! or her cat is working for the terrorists !

lol at call the cops and kill you... so is she gonna wait for them then kill you? or kill you and have them show up and say" i got the laser person!!!"

though i would not shine it in that area for a week or so .

Exactly, if the police arrive and ask questions, you don't know anything, you were never there, it never happened. Where were you, then? Someplace else, doing homework maybe. It's on them to prove otherwise.

Yeah - I agree with Shaken-- this member has a 1.6W listed in thier sig- and already is calling it 2W-- not accurate just like his story of 'assisting the police' -
- if one reads the info of convictions for laser crimes at laserpointersafety.com you will read about police showing up and finding the laser owners fairly easy-

one was doing his 'Federal crime' from his bedrooom window- 'somewhow' the police were able to search and found his laser under the mattress- on an average day 10 pilots make 'incident' reports seeing a laser or being actually lased- you can be sure the latter is taken very seriously and pinpointing the source is not all that hard-- especailly if a heli- is being lased-- with flir you are very easy to spot- and they will be watching right up til the point the police arrive-- good luck telling them they can't search-- they have all the 'cause' they need to come in no matter how much you resist or protest and its likely you will face some other charges about that part too.

TBH I am not 'buying' the part fo the lady saying she was going to kill somebody & if i am wrong --just how does one convince the Police that is what was said??- got a witness? or a recording? do you think that will make a difference? :-/ I don't ....

Arielle you should tell us the truth of what actually happened. I doubt anyone would freakout unless it was pointed at them directly.
As everyone is saying, a laser is not a toy. Even a small, low powered one should be handled with responsibility. Something a teenager is still learning as they grow into adulthood.

Pretend it's a weapon, you wouldn't go around showing weapons while people are around. Be safe.
you would if it was Texas. Those AK-47 in the grocery store people will be the end of us. Most of the world already thinks poorly of us. Why not have them think we are cavemen on top of that.

That is what happened, I may have accidently shined it at her for maybe a second, but I doubt it because I never even pointed it in her direction. The police never came or anything though. I do live near a big airport, but I rarely shine it at the sky, and when I do I make sure that there are no planes or helicopters nearby. She was probably on drugs because she had these bloodshot eyes and was wearing slippers out on the street. I think I may have overreacted. I doubt anyone would actually call the police over someone shining a laser on the sidewalk. I never saw the lady again. :D

some of you need to check your facts-- she is 15- and yes it is NOT legal to display, in public any laser >5 mW-- she is NOT out in the boonies- there really are laser police-
and just how does one prove the laser was not aimed at the citizen-??

you need to learn from this-

laser owners have no specail rights- you can be treated just like a laser show company that has no variance- no show plan- NO LSO on staff- no FAA plan-no compliant FDA gear and no biz being in the laser show biz--

I pray the OP has the sense to never take that laser to school- it can be easily taken away and very quickly harm some innocent.

see this young lady

laserpointersafety.com
see the 'sentences'
some got a felonies on thier records forever..
and 2 years for a 24 yr old female in the USA..

I would assume you will be 'watched' for some time to come- so keep that in mind.

You can never tell when its dark-- who is watching..
on TV every night guns with lasers mounted on them--- you could get shot--and killed. Your neighbor may have never called- or did and they choose to not come out- OR they came and did not see you- if called it will be kept as a record and they may look harder the next time-

Lasers-- harmless prank?
NO ITS a big fine and prison time--

I am being tough on you because this is serious..
