Hey guys,

So if you have seen my previous thread, you would know my life has been pretty hectic at the moment.

I work for a manufacturer of high end, world class industrial laser engraver/cutters. If you are interested in looking them up the website is below:

Laser cutting and laser engraving machines - Trotec Australia Australia/New Zealand

Our company is a division of a parent company called Trodat, which has been established in Europe for more than 100 years. They have 60 other large companies that are very specialized and successful all around the world.

I have been working for Trotec for almost a year now and been fighting nail and tooth to impress and prove to my boss' that I am a step above the rest. This can sometimes result in 12 hour days at work, or long conversations with our parent company in Austria in the middle of the night, or sitting at a headphone stand in the middle of an auditorium with TV cameras all round you, engraving custom text on a $400 pair of headphones.

But I love my job and I am fortunate to have it. Friends around me are working 9-5 jobs to pay the bills and hating their lives, sitting at a desk doing the same job, day in day out. Where as I have the freedom to work on my own projects, have a variety of people to talk to daily and basically have something new to do every day.

The good news is, word has gotten back to the managing director of Trotec in Austria, about my performance and my university degree, which has resulted in him offering me a job in the R&D department, doing programming (I study advance programming at university if you didn't know) for new machines. This is such great news! Europe has always been a place I wanted to travel to and explore and for me to be right in the middle of it, working for a company I love, doing what I want to do, is basically a dream come true.

So I just wanted to let everyone know the good news, because I am pretty damn excited about it! I obviously need time to think about it and organize my life, but hopefully I can make this dream a reality!

:thanks: for reading!

-Adrian

That is AWESOME! Congratulations on such a fortunate turn of events! ... That is to say, congratulations on seeing the fruits of your hard labor this past year! Another nice thing is that you will be away from the insane laser law country, right?

Well done Adrian, good news indeed. All the best to you on your new job and hope that you still will have enough time to pop in here once in awhile to say "G'day" (don't forget your roots! Lol) and also to give us an update on how it is all turning out!

Thanks for all the support guys! We are working on a multi-killowatt machine to cut steel up to 10mm thick.... I really hope I can move to Austria and start working on developing that machine before they finish it :D

You know I was thinking Adrian that you are an inspiration to some of the young people here and I do hope that they are reading this thread. I have read here of how parents and grandparents have asked younger LPF members "So what do you do with a laser?" Of course a common answer it "Burn Stuff!" I just want to say to these young ones that are thinking about what they might be wanting to study when they go to Uni that what Bobhaha is doing is the ultimate in burning stuff with lasers. (Almost) Of course NASA is doing some even cooler stuff and theirs is the Ultimate! There are many uses for lasers other than star pointing, popping balloons or lighting matches, remember laser pointers are really just the bi-product of other things. Even today I see that Livinloud is about to undertake a project involving a laser cutter.
I do encourage the younger and maybe some of the not so young to enjoy your laser pointers but if you have the ability to go out and study in the field of laser technology, it is an exciting field and one that I think has a huge potential in the future!
Thanks again Adrian for posting this. Good news for you and also a great thing for this forum. I am sure there are other members here to that are working in the field of Laser Technology, Thank you!

Take note those that may be looking here to find fault and place blame on those that have laser pointers!

Soon we will have NASA recovering national debt by selling advertising space on the moon. Then they use a megawatt laser to etch the surface. Soon we will have a Waxing Nike, or a Waning Apple. Or maybe a Full Time Warner Cable. lol
