Not if its in the shape of the sword. Or you could use magnetics.
Or even have it convert back to energy like the shit in star trek
Come on man think outside the box

lol im trying, i still think a gun is more effective tho >.>
swords are soooo 1800's

 not when they cut cars in half when swung by a small girl

THIS! In all seriousness, I think if we look at the Technological Strides taken even in the past decade, it is not unreasonable to say that in a few more decades we could have something akin to a Lightsaber. Think about it: there was a time when computers seemed impossible or going to the moon seemed impossible, and generally speaking, it seemed impossible to the majority of people right up until a year or so before it happened. Its like water. You can get it colder and colder, but it doesn't actually turn to ice until 32 degrees Fahrenheit. At 33 Degrees Fahrenheit it still looks like water. In 2010 lightsabers look impossible. What will 2011 hold? Ice perhaps? ;)

i think the government is too busy spending money to make our ipods smaller:p

Haha and fighting terrorism which I think funds those iPods :p

Area51 is just one place. There's got to be tons of Labs out there which are hidden and secret inventing stuff non stop everyday. We won't ever see it... people are too dangerous as it is.

Can you imagine a blonde driving a hover car while texting? The bimbo couldn't even drive even with both eyes, and the fact that there's no road to look at. Man what a scene that would turn into. She'd take out 10 houses

Then you got the elderly who can't see with either eye heheh... reminds me of that south park episode but in the sky

There are 18650 sizes that can give close to 100W for short periods.

All we need is a diode with sufficient output effect and the efficiency rate to avoid dumping app. 500W of waste heat into a hand held. :D

dont you mean 100mW??

TYPO on my part--I meant to ask do you mean 1000mW--or 1 watt- but I am surprized that a 100WATT /10,000mW laser can be ran fro a single 18650-- I would think it would run out of juice in a few minutes and get super hot too.

just shows me once again how much more I have to learn!!!

will it light balloons and pop matches--lol

ps .......TOKE ........it that coffee in the cup in your avatar???

update edit--four 18650s for 9.60$ !!!wow--had to pay for some as soon as I saw that-- sure hope they are not like the explosive ones that WL sends out?? we should both do a review an them once they arrive- same seller offers 100 of the shipped free for 2.29$ apiece

The batteries are only 1100mA, so there is a price to pay for the 30A capability. I am pretty sure they get hot and last only 2-3 min at full load.
2 min is plenty of time to get e.g. a RC glider up to altitude.
(They are intended for high power RC-stuff)

Yes, I was on the train and needed a picture for my avatar. :D
It's like 1.5 years old, I am sitting next to the free coffee on the 1.class.

DO NOT try to charge these in a regular Li-Ion charger.
Their max charge voltage is 3.6V not 4.2.

I intend to charge mine with a LM317 setup for 3.6V and a resistor to limit charge current to what the LM317 can handle.
The intended chargers for these batteries can deliver LOTS of amps, and the batteries can handle it.

:thanks:wow-- thanks for the info--I would have just slapped them into my charger and not known-- wish now that I had not PPed for them last night- what are my other options??

will they explode in my charger??:cryyy:

How do I check my other chargers to see if they are OK to use. Can I just meter the output of the charger??-- how much is too much??

About the 100W -=--I found a post here on it and you are right-- but they are not CW -- just pulsed.:(

LOL when you said RC I thought...':wtf:100Watt Laser used for a RC ??
are you sure there was no 'extra' additive in that coffee??-- you look a little---uh... tired... :D

ps thnx for the kind words on my rep:thanks:

A LM317 setup, or buying the correct charger.

will they explode in my charger??:cryyy:
I will not guarantee an fiery explosion, but is it likely.
I think Quemefox have written something on the dangers of Li-Ion batteries.

Chargers are based on an dedicated IC made for that type of battery.
Do not use any charger not specifically made for LiFePO4 batteries.
(It would be weird if you just happen to have one of those lying around)

??
I don't know enough about that.

As I recall it, I were annoyed trying to find a driver for the camera in my laptop. :D

You have only yourself to blame. :)
