I was at dollar general and I saw a 1911 with a red laser sight. I got the idea to use my heatsinked 200mw 638nm. I did all this without soldering and my first try resulted in the laser being angled from the barrel by 15 degrees or so. I got it aligned nearly perfectly ( the beam and dot with the iron sights.) I don't shoot air soft competitively so this idea just randomly came to me. I tried it right when it was starting to get dark and I was able to hit a coke can twice by just using the laser beam and dot. I could not believe how far a 638nm could go. I hit tree tops a 1000 feet away and i was still able to see the dot ( the setting sun was blocked by clouds.) Once it got dark I had no problem hitting a water gallon jug from 30 feet away just by using the laser. It's so well aligned I dunno if im ever gonna take it off. My DSLR had trouble picking up the beam , but i'm gonna get my tripod out and find my non SLR which sees red better and takes slow motion videos. I can't go outside as the temperature started dropping rapidly and there's a frost advisory. I don't want to get any condensation on the lens of the laser.
I made a battery pack for a sega nomad 2 years ago using a 12 volt li-on pack with 2 manual connects due to the nature of li-ons. It was stable enough to use and the way I made it allowed an a/c adapter to be hooked it up.
I fired 20+ shots and had no issue reloading or cocking it and i made the battery pack allinged so i could switch the laser off.
Also the glue gun wax is removable and it held good through my tests.
Yes it looks crazy but I connected it and made sure the clips wouldn't touch by insulating them with the wax.
