Requesting a build?

I've been gone for a while, stopped browsing as often as I did. Anyways I was looking through here and saw a high powered "pen" laser. I would love to have one of those over a thicker build.

I was wondering if there was an area I could request someone to build such a laser. No insane host, just like a neat black one of aluminum or something, similar to the wicked lasers but does NOT have to be from them, just a nice design. Looking for the power to be like 500mW or so in 445nm. Price can't be more than like 75. Power can be reduced if needed. I just want a semi-high powered laser in a small host basically haha. I am not looking to keep this running for more than like 30-45 seconds at a time, so it won't overheat in the small host.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love the support here.

EDIT: Would be willing to make a trade for a mini 100mW 532 nm from lazerer.com lpm'd at 105mW plus cash, if interested. Laser is in perfect condition, will contain 1 10440 battery and small plastic case the laser was shipped in. The laser itself is about 3/4 the size of a sharpie marker.

75 is going to be a hard sell.

A 450 diode that does 150mW is going to run 77 just for the diode, driver and lens. Then you have to add the host.
A 1W 445nm laser diode will run 95 dollars with diode, driver, and lens. Still need the host.

If someone could source an A140 diode, they are 700mW or so. The diode is about 30 bucks. Then add driver for 20, lens for 10, and a host. So if you could find a host for 10 dollars you would be at 70. Issue is, building incurs risk on the builder as they will be considered "at fault" if a component dies. Most builders charge a bit extra to cover themselves incase something happens.

Long story short that will be a difficult thing to do. 75 is a very small laser budget.

Yeah I'm aware it is, thanks for the great info though. Like I said, power could be decreased to 500 or so. And I have no idea where to look for a pen host, or host in general. I don't know good places to find supplies to build lasers. Why in requesting a build lol.

75 isn't necessarily the limit I have, just what I really want to spend... I mean of its 85 then not an issue lol. But thanks again

Even $85 is a pretty slim budget for your request. As for a host if you haven't already, I highly suggest having a look at jayrob's leadlight FS thread. You can purchase the leadlight host from Jayrob in either a matte black finish or a chrome finish.

I love that black and chrome pen host JayRob makes. Those look really nice, thanks for sharing that. I'll wait to see what wannaburnstuff finds before I contact anyone. Thanks again.
