Is there anyone non the forum that could machine a copper clickie button to replace this ugly green rubber?

I purchased this host and I polished the copper and stainless steel, but the green rubber end cap just stands out. Note, this is a stock picture of the host end cap, not my unit.

I also plan to put engraved copper plates on both sides. The whole thing should look nice when finished, but this green clickie button is getting in the way.

See if you can pull it out. Sometimes you can take apart the tailcap and get it out that way, but it could
be glued or require special tools.

I have a feeling the rear assembly would need to be taken apart to put a metal end piece in, as the base would need to have a lip. So, even if I could pull the rubber end piece out from the back I'd still need to take it apart. I'm a little afraid to try. If I have to get it open I'm sure I could find a way. I just don't want to risk it until I know how I'm going to put it back together.

I have felt the same for a long time, I have 2 hosts with this same green rubber and don't like it. I also have 2 that have black rubber. Why can't someone sell these rubber pieces in black and maybe other colors? I also never liked the green lens caps, they too should come in black and other colors.

The tailcap switch and rubber boot can be accessed by inserting a pair of tweezers into the two holes of the tailcap. Grip the brass/aluminium ring and turn counter-clockwise to open it up.

Copper will tarnish very quickly if moisture and oils get on it by clicking on it. I'd suggest polished aluminium instead. :)

They're green glow in the dark tailcaps so you should be able to locate your flashlight in the dark a tad bit easier.

Personally I like it, it's like that one glowy-bit on high-tech gadgets :D There wasn't ever a concept of anything high-tech looking without at least a few of it's parts glowing.

But anyway, yeah you can take apart the tailcap easily.
Take it off, look into it from the side where battery touches it, there's two holes on the ring around the protruding contact, grab tweezers, stick them in, turn counter clockwise.

Retaining ring off, everything else just falls out. Replace/Repair/Upgrade, put it together in same order.

The switch actually broke, ironically enough. So I did have to take it apart. I used a couple screwdrivers instead of the tweezers. It looks like there is a metal ring that was supposed to be pressed onto the switch, but it is poorly fitted and maybe popped out so the assembly turned sideways. Anyway, all fixed. I also figured out why the green. It's glow in the dark. I hit it with my UV light and it's shining quite brightly. Oddly enough although the lens cap fluoresces super brightly under 1 watt of UV, it doesn't glow in the dark at all. Unless accidentally turning on the red laser while the cap was on ruined it somehow.

I hear you, the main reason for the copper was to match the extended heat sink (polished to a glimmer). I think the colors would be perfect. Shame copper tarnishes so quickly though.

Stainless wouldn't look bad, but as the entire body is stainless it might be too much. Maybe brass would work, or electroplated gold..
