I apologise for my ignorance though... I had no idea you could hack into a car without any consent. I know that certain makers in the US have road side assistance which can control your car in ways, but had no idea that Gov't were pushing for outside control options on a vehicle to become common place.

Don't sweat it, I'm still learning all the time too.

The thing is they want the engine to go to idle so the driver still has power brakes and steering to safely pull over, the Onstar system can do just that, and it puts the flashers on too.

The other avenue that is already perfected is the HERF guns, that is high energy radio frequency, but they fry the cars electronics and the engine stops, now that steering is becoming by wire the HERF guns can't really be used on certain new cars. The 2016 Infinity Q50 has steer by wire, the steering wheel is not mechanically connected to the linkage.

Side Note:
Now if you have an old points ignition car or a mechanical fuel injection diesel you will be driving after the possible EMP attack that America is very vulnerable to, just one high altitude EMP bomb could wipe out a lot of our infrastructure that would take years to repair. But I digress.

The mandated event data recorders I believe are on all new cars, I don't know if the shutdown is being installed in all cars yet, I know GM and probably Toyota because they use Delphi ECU's.....it's like a lot of the new laws being passed, we don't get to read them first anymore, it sounds like a joke, I wish like hell it was a joke, but it's not.

READ THIS: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-law-mandates-black-boxes-in-all-cars-by-2015/

These black boxes could easily contain a shutdown program that for law enforcement purposes is not authorized for public release.

Here's one of the old HERF units.

That is crazy. I'm going to keep a mechanical run around bike lurking in a shed for doomsday.

By the way, I just saw on NBC nightly news that this week they are going to be doing specials about the issue of these personal drones.

Yes I am sure and yes I do know what I am talking about. I would not have posted that information otherwise.

A little of the cuff here but im a little upset so please bare with me. I hadnt renewed my cars inspection sticker and I recieved a citation in the mail dated from 2 days into the month it was over due. The part that kills me was the car was parked in the lot of my building and I know way tried to hide it and still had it front out as always for the past 7 years here. My insurance policy went up $176 a year for the next 6 years as an inspection sticker is considered a "moving violation" The car was parked? Ive always personally respected the law and its officers but this is really making me lose respect and have resentment for some cops and authority, yes I was in the wrong but being that ive caused no issues and its the same cops patroling for all these years mabey a warning would of bean more appropriate. I never vote or get involved with petitions because I dont see them make a difference in changes an especialy to change a law I live in MA and im wondering if all other members in different states have these traffic laws? So now im assuming with the new cars black boxes ticket in the mail are going to be the norm:(

Sorry to hear that GSS. If there's a way to make $ on it someone will eventually get a law passed to cash in.

It is the norm.

Red light traffic cams are nothing new anymore.

Speeding cameras are catching on.

Insurance companies want people to install their gps devices voluntarily to monitor driving, in exchange for a discount.

Not going to be long until the same insurance companies are lobbying to have that tracking data by default, to deny your claim if you're 1mph over the limit, and it will of course also go out to the local police department to write you a speeding ticket at the same time.

Regarding cops trolling for tickets... it's nothing new at all. If a lot is not gated, or the PD has an agreement from the property manager, cops will go through the lot, run plates, and write tickets for inspection, and registration. Some small towns have gone so far as to mandate that a car must be parked in a driveway with licence plate visible from the street... so the cop doesn't have to get his fat ass out the cruiser... and so the cameras on his car can instantly let him know if he actually does have to do anything.

Violent crime is down, has been down for decades now... and cops just grow more vicious in the meantime, now that they've voluntarily been turned into revenue collectors.

(And then the "good" ones wonder why no but other cops likes them.)

I can't guarantee that this will work but here is what I would do. What I am suggesting is possible only if you have not yet paid the fine. There is also a risk. I have been successful with this approach with more serious matters.

If you have a choice of going to court, get the car inspected ASAP.

Get a copy of your driving record including PGJs (Probation Before Judgement) from your DMV, that is if your state offers the two types of reports one with and one without. The point is that you want to demonstrate a relatively clean driving record showing that you were not previously offered a PBJ.

Then and go to court. I don't know if you can plead guilty with an explanation. If you can, even if you simply tell the truth and say that this has not happened to you, show the Judge your driving records, and ask that you be offered a PBJ along with no court costs. The Judge may either give you a PBJ for 30 days or longer and if you are a good boy, no points, or simply be nice and find you guilty but waive points and court costs.

Obviously, the risk is that you will be found guilty and relieve both points and court costs. Generally, Judges will be reasonable if you have a relatively good driving record.

Another interesting story tonight on NBC nightly news is going to be covered concerning some kids vaping mod blew up on him and I think he is in critical condition. My guess is he was sub-ohming and using crappy batteries. We shall see in a few minutes although it's not like you can expect them to get the story right.
Sure sounds as though they have the story wrong as I doubt he was charging it while smoking. They said the major issue with these units are charging with the wrong charger.
The guy had it blow up in his face with black lithium burns.
Yes you wouldn't want to charge with 2 high a current and batteries do have data sheets if you can find them that state the appropriate charging rates. I'm not trying to minimize that. I just doubt that is what actually happened to him. They never said that was the reason why the unknown unit he had blew up.

Oh you just wait, the government is going to want tax on this vaping deal.
All that nicotine juice will start being sold in tiny bottles, hell it's dangerous, nicotine is a poison.
Tiny bottles with big taxes, just you wait.

As for our cars computers it's just like your map apps, they know the speed limit of the road you are on and many tell you when you are over, I'm talking about just the windshield/handheld GPS units.

When you go to renew your tag you will get a gas wasting tax fee based on your over the speed limit percentage/miles/ect, and your wide open throttles.

If you exceed posted speed limits by more than 35% 1/10 of 1% of the time you pay tax rate B for all your gas wasting, and if you fall into the next category it's a higher fee and so on.

THEY WILL NOT KILL THIS GOLDEN GOOSE by issuing a speeding ticket, they will get a lot more money by taxing it as gas wasting.
That way it's a tax on the car's license plate, because some cars have multiple family drivers.

Our country is in rapidly growing debt and all this new technology is going to be used to make us pay more and more.
We are all going to have to pay this massive bill, because the Chinese are not going to let us write it off, NO SIR.

A mother was walking her kid top school when a meteor hit her son in the head killing him instantly. She found the right attorney and is now suing NORAD for not tracking the meteor properly.

Of course I am just kidding. Americans have this idea that life is without risk.

It's already started.

State by State Vaping Tax Guide - 22 States proposed E-Cigarette Taxes in 2015 » VAPE ABOUT IT

If they push too hard with the electronic auto nanny reporting on our exceeding their already antiquated speed limits, people will raise hell for change, but if they tax a little and let it slide, then the balance of safety Sallys vs. busy people will be turned into another ever increasing tax.

As for going way over the speed limit just about all modern cars kill the spark when you exceed the factory tires speed rating.

My Ranger shuts off at 105, many other cars 115. And all but high end sports cars with Z rated factory tires 155.
They will set a max speed for all cars and between that and the low posted limits its all just another tax base.
