Hi,

Can anyone recommend a suitable laser for use in a cinema projector sound scanning head? The laser need to be able to produce a thin red line about 3mm wide at a distance of about 7mm. It need to be around 5mw and be able to run off 3 to 5v. Ideally it will have dimensions of around 70mm x 14-16mm. If anyone has any experience of this type of use your advice will be gratefully received.
Best wishes,
Jon :)

Google didn't do any justice here, what on earth is a "cinema projector sound scanning head"? and whatever it is why would you be pointing it at something less than 1cm away?

Wait a minute....

If the line has to be 3mm wide how thick does it have to be?At 3mm wide I'm guessing it has to be pretty thin :-/ You need a custom combination of optics for that.Or did you mean that the thickness has to be 3mm? :-/

Hi Switch,

The line has to have pretty specific dimensions, it need to be 2.5mm wide horizontally by 0.25 to 0.5 mm high vertically. I've attached a link to a webpage so you can see the kind of use I'm talking about, if you then click on the 4th item down 'Future Projections V3001 laser Install Manual it gives you a PDF
Thanks!
Sorry cant post links! But if you go to a site called Future Projections dot com and look for their V3001 download you will see the kind of use I'm talking about
