While I do think green lasers are cooler due to the added complexity in the design, the fact that they're brighter, and you can see the beam much more easily... my personal favorite between the two is still red. Not only do I find the red color more pleasing to my eye, I think there's also some nostalgia involved too. I remember playing with red lasers ever since I was a little kid and thinking how cool they were, whereas I had never seen or used a green laser pointer until I was well into adulthood.

What's your personal favorite and why?

I voted green! I just got my 515 working a few days ago & absolutely love the color, much more than I thought I would. The difference between 532 & 515 is quite stunning :yh:

What was wrong with the 515? Must have missed the update if you posted one to your thread.

Probably green for me ... although I do like 638 and 632 as well.

Gahhh I can't choose! Green is so much easier to see the beam at night but I think my 1W red looks so amazing shining it up through the air :D

So far I have a high powered red and a a maybe 100mW green that I got off Ebay. The green is stunningly powerful and way brighter than I expected. It even gets a little warm to the touch! But the red is just such an unusual color to see in the night sky :p

Imma have to vote red here :D

Voted for green out of the two choices but honestly I prefer 405 and 445nm out of them all.. I haven't seen over 200mw of green in person yet but my 1w of 445 is truly amazing as blue is my favorite color.

I love all my laser colors equally, but probably for different reasons. I would have trouble parting with any of them. I do have a special love for 6328 Angstroms, though as i have used it for holography.

Hey diachi,

Turns out the batteries weren't making proper contact. I used Aluminum in between both and it works fine. Also ordered some button tops in the mean time :)

I still love that deep red 660nm, I swear one day I'm going to bundle a few hundred of them.
However green is awesome too, but like someone already said, that old red has some nostalgia.

445-465nm is my absolute favourite range, but between the two I'm going with green. Although, it may be a little biased as I have yet to see a class IV red :p

I picked red. Just to even things out. I do need to add a red laser to my collection (not the cat toy). Time to go stare at dtr's shop. What is this 1w red diode? Handheld?

I recommend the Mits 500. It is a much more stable diode than the Oclaro :)

I've had both and the Oclaro died after a few days. The mitts was great but I don't currently have it in a host. I replaced it with a M462 but I think I might have a small Ebay host for it soon :D

That diode is the ML501P73-02 and sells for $21.00 on eBay as well as many other places.

Voted green because ;)

Is this purely based off of personal experience?

By your logic my Mitsubishi P73 is not stable at all since it suffered a premature death very early on.
