I recently bought a HL 532nm 100mW laser from SKY. It came fine, but without a battery. It says it takes a 16340.

So: Are 16340 batteries equivalent to CR123A?

And also: What voltage should the battery be? I saw CR123A's that were both 3.0V and 3.7V, but the laser doesn't specify what it takes. Would either work?

Thanks

If the laser says 16340 then it is the rechargeable 3.7 Li-ion battery.
The CR123A is equivalent to the primary cell ( non rechargeable )

Both batteries have 3.0V and 3.7V versions.

If you can't find anything under "16340" try "rcr123A". When we say 16340's around here, we mean 3.7V Li-Ion RCR123As.

Btw, I recommend Lighthound.com for Li-Ion cells. The AW ICR cells are preferred.
