I just got a 10mW green laser off ebay. I'm not sure if it's a true 10mW or if it's been modded from a 5mW. Either that or it has no IR filter. What do you think?

Yea i was pretty sure it had no IR filter, but i'm not too bothered about that. Anyway, you say it's not modified, do you know this for definate or are you just taking the sellers word for it?
Another thing, do these lasers have a make or are they just generic chinese things?

i have a m8 who just bought a greenie of ebay for $140 ( i told him so many times not to buy off ebay but some people just dont listen)
label states 100mw - he really thinks its putting out 100mw lol i tried to explain to him that its actually only kickin about 20-40 and rest is IR leakeage. i borrowed the laser for an hour and straight away i noticed the beam wasnt collimated properly. the laser was actually giving out 2 beams but barely noticeable. on some occasions there were 3 beams,
2 of which were coming from the sides.
this really became obvious when shined through a lens/magnification.
i told him about the issue and he was like shocked to hear, if he gets a refund il point him to the x-series at nova.
