Question about 532nm Build

Yeah, I ordered a couple from FASTTECH too. I already had an account there, but hadn't been there in so long I forgot about it. I plan on testing these out and seeing how far they an be pushed. For the price, I figure I can't go wrong. If they turn out to be everything that I've been lead to believe, that will be a good source for under 200 mW 532nm DPSSLs. Can't believe I passed on those, but it was probably because of the 5mW rating that I didn't buy any before. I've got some 200mW laser modules with drivers, but they cost a lot more than these did. If I can push them close to 200mW that will be a great find indeed.

they have some already built laser in that range what they actually product is a mystery! they have a fifty mw blue and a 20 mw blue wonder what they can crank out mw wise if some one over spec them? they have lots of things to buy and can expedite shipping for a price but i have gotten a three orders i have placed

Ok I will order 2 from fasttech. And Paul you said these have short duty cycles unless I do something to them. Anything I should do with this when I get it? I just want to prolong its life as much as I can. Thanks.

Danny, you will want to heat sink the output transistor on the driver board. I looked at this driver and I've seen it before. The 1/2 watt resistor that is on the opposite side from the pot that is used to adjust the current can be replaced with a piece of wire. That will save you some space. There are small heat sinks that you can place on the output transistor and they have a peal off cover on the flat side of the heat sink. You just peal that off and press the heat sink onto the transistor, and that will help dissipate the heat that the transistor generates very quickly. Danny, if you are looking for a cheap host, there is a post by Deltawars from yesterday that has a link to FASTTECH for the flashlight you can use and a link to a heat sink for the module on eBay. The whole shooting match costs less than $7.00. You would have to cut the heat sink down with a hack saw, then you could use the module as the case positive connection and the switch at the bottom would be your negative contact. So the battery would go in negative side first.
