Hello to all,
I am considering posting a "Best Of" my photos I have taken over the last 13 months in the multimedia section based on the suggestion of some LPF members. I have taken literally thousands of shots and originally thought I would pick around 40 pics which turned out to be around 100 pics. I have only been on the forum since August 2012 and really do not know the protocol or etiquette of making such a large first post, or if I should even do it all. I do not want to piss off people. I can tell you that all of the pics I have picked are really nice pics (at least to me) and it would be hard to remove any of them. My plans are to still make my usual weekly post of my photography, but to add only a few pics each week to this weekly thread. Before I make this post I would like to get feedback from LPF members ( especially veterans) to see if I should proceed or alter my plans.
Thank you!

I'm all for it. thousands of pics, holy crap.

maybe for loading times you could figure out how many pics (X) each post could have, with 25 posts per page, and still load at a decent rate at say, 3mbps down. then just put X pics per post, and post all your best pics whenever. limiting to X amount of pics per post, other people will comment peridically, speeding up loading. the posts would date the pics roughly. I vote sticky. I think in this case we can make exceptions for double posting, triple, quadruple, whatever.

but I'm just one semi-noob, what do I know

Hi Shakenawake,
I do not intend to load thousands of pics. I will only post 100 out of that amount I have taken, and then add a few per week.

Sounds good!
Just add [Picture Heavy] in the title so people on slow connections, or using their phones data know that it will take a while to load, similar to how the gif thread has (FAST CONNECTIONS ONLY) in the title. :)

I'm no veteran but Maybe you should just preface the page with: This is a very long post, turn back if you don't want to scroll that much or something along those lines. I could care less. Just remember if you make this post i have a happy rep finger.

I know, I was talking about for hundreds, I was just amazed at the total. even a hundred might take a while to load. pic heavy in the title could work too. either way I vote sticky

Hey LaserSam,
The post is ready and I just need to paste it into a new thread and hit "Submit". I guess I will wait until tonight and see if I get any negative feedback, if not I will have it posted by 7PM tonight.

And you have a moderator stamp o f approval

As has already been suggested, put "picture heavy" in the title, even though we know you well enough to know that a brucemir thread is going to be optical pornography :) .

Go for it my friend.

ditto Kaph(+4 coming) et al.... BUT

*****************
go for it--afaik we ALL love to see pics.

Even those not related to Lasers--

I woud suggest you feed us in small amounts-
make your own thread come back to this one and link us-that way we all will be subscribed automatically =we will be coming back to see what you have shared with us and that is a very honest & easy way to bump your rep--

also no need to post only stuff related to this forum either..

But cool lasers shot are the best!!
Those we like to call eyecandy or even funnier 'LaserPorn'

I am very far from being savvy about some stuff.
But someplace I heard about pics taking up a lot of 'bandwidth'
or something like that- This may be the reason some just place a link to a site where hundreds of pics can be seen. Post a teaser of the best of the 'keepers' and most will want to see more.

What I do know is this-- 1) its a PITA to find any pics twice as wide as my monitor. Make them fit or dont attach them. P L E A S E

These REALLY need to fit as not being able to see the entire pic is as annoying as the need to scroll sideways.

2)call it a pet peeve BUT Why must so many here find the need
to quote both pic heavy threads/posts and very long ones- I copy paste the parts I want to reply to and save all from
the need to wade thru a bunch of text and pics--it is redundant and -a waste of space and our time. Once a pic is posted why do we need to see it again in a reply..duh?

I generally post mine as thumbnails below my post-- but I must admit it is nice to see the better ones already in a larger size.
To make this ez for me I copypasta the text and delete all that is not needed--then using bold I type in my reply-this can be also good for me as many times I loose what I have typed in a reply before I click 'submit' That really chaps my hide-just now did that when repling to an email--I dont ever seem to re-do these as well as my first 'draft' I do wish we has 'auto draft' like other forums have.

FYI you also can create albums in your profile page and link those in a thread or post-I have a few at my pages if anyone wants to go look- Search 'eye candy' to find a few threads & Posts of my fav pics- I also sometimes like to know how the pic was taken-was there a fogger used? is it a time exposure? did you move the camera intentionally while taking it, what power were the lasers? what camera? etc.

*********** +3 for Bruce for encouragement!!

Hi Hak,
The pics I will be posting are sized down to 800x600 and very small files. They fit on a computer screen with much room to spare. Once this initial thread is posted only a few pics will be added weekly. Only the best 2 or 3 shots from my weekly shoot will go there. I usually post about 20-25 per week over the last year. Thank you very much for your highly valued feedback
