In my experience, giving people the right search terms is all they need to find the information they want. Coincidentally, I find myself often wanting to help new people out without spoon-feeding them.

I've figured out a useful trick to link directly to a search result set.

Using this URL as a base:

HTML:
http://laserpointerforums.com/search.php?do=process&query=

With it, you can link someone to a result set. Just add the search terms after "query=" in the URL.

HTML:
http://laserpointerforums.com/search.php?do=process&query=boost driver

Thus, this will link straight to a list of threads where boost drivers are mentioned:

Laser Pointers - Search Forums

Simple, but IMO a useful way to pass on information without taking away all of the personal effort to obtain the information. :)

Nice find Trevor:) Another useful tool is searching within the site from google.

'Search term' site:laserpointerforums.com

I find myself using this for searching most of the time and it works great.

Also, that. I just thought this was less tacky than a "LMGTFY" type link. :)

Now that you said that... I'm calling it, someone's going to make a LMLPFSTFY (LPF Search) sooner or later.

Still, cool find!

Better brush up on my web development/flash skills.

Yeah... the couple times I've used this, I had work on the search terms before I got useful results. :p
