So I'm sitting here at work on a Saturday waiting for those that may need my help, reading through the posting when...
Aaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuugggggggggghhhh !
I think my brain is going to short out !

I know I'm being picky about it all but after just soooo many times I think it is giving me an unatural "tick". (What would a natural one look like ? - different topic for another time...)
The grammer police are pounding on the door !
When you use the wrong words you change the meaning of the written passage you have entered.

Then - is a time related reference. First one thing is done THEN something else follows.
Than - is a comparative term. You would raher have this item THAN the other one.
Google - refers to an internet search engine (and company). Slang for looking something up online.
Goggle - the protective eyewear that all laser enthusiasts should be able to show on request.
definately - NOT A WORD !
definitely - derived from the root word "finite" refering to an absolute known value. There is definitely not a word "definately".
learnt - NOT A WORD !
learned - the past tense of the word learn. By reading this you should have learned a few things.

There are many more that I am sure that we all have seen and maybe even have dropped ourselves.
I'm just throwing this out there before I explode.

Now I'm feeling much better.

AND for those here that are not English speaking as your first language I accept your errors willingly. Take this post as just a little help with your understanding of one of the most confusing and convoluted languages in the world.

Thank you all.

Language changes with culture and time.

Words change in spelling, pronunciation, and sometimes meaning. That is the beauty in fluidity of languages.

I know that sometime glaring mistakes in grammar can be hard to handle, but without these painful changes we would all still be grunting and pounding sticks on rocks;)

Edit:Some of us just can't spell in our native language, no matter how well spoken.

Wait a sec...
You mean you guys don't still grunt and pound sticks on rocks ?
Well then, what do you do for fun on hot summer nights when out in the backwoods ?
You don't scare the "campers" ?
Huh ?

One that really bugs me is mixing up "Through" and "Threw". At least I hope I got the first one right myself :p

Also "tho" is not a word, commonly used instead of "though".

And I hate when people post one seemingly endless stream of words without any commas or dots (or full-stops for you Brits :p ).

I do not think people mix up "Google" and "Goggle" doe to bad grammar, I actually mixed them up couple of times because typing "Google" is one fluid keystroke, I've typed it bazoongazillion times, but I have rarely used "Goggle", so I tend to write the wrong one and do not even notice it.

Ermmmm... that would be due....:p

We must also remember that not all LPF members are
schooled in English nor is it their 1st language and we
could cut them some slack...;)

BTW... while on the subject I see there and their interchanged
a lot.

Uuuum.
They're too what ?
They're too thin ? They're too fat ?
They're just about at the end of their rope over there with this topic ?
Would that be two of them to be accused too ?
Wait a minute while I make a minute adjustment to my chair...that's better.
Where was I again ? Not speaking of what to wear I'm sure.
I don't have a machine so I have to hand sew things. And I'm only so-so at it.

This should really help those learning English now...

Whether you know it or not, the weather affects you.

And to really mess things up, do you know how to pronounce this word : ghoti.

You see, the first two letters are from words like "enough" where the "gh" are pronounced as an " f " sound.
Then just for fun the " o " is the same as the one used in the plural form of "woman", which is to say that "women" is said like it should be spelled "wimmen" but I think that it starts to look a little too much like something in German. The " o " sounds like an " i ".
Most of us are familiar with lots of words like "emotion", "commotion", or any of a bunch of others where the " ti " form the part of the word that sounds like the " sh " sound.
According to the regular rules and ways of speaking the language you should have said
that "ghoti" = "fish".

For the sake of avoiding confusion, I use this term ONLY to apply to those "ghoti " that are on the backs of automobiles. The same ones that are parodied by the fish shaped "Darwin" or other vehicle appliques out there now.

Hope that helps everybody.
:p
