Looks cool. There is one problem though. The focusable part wont do anyone who is using an aixiz lens or module any good.

Meh, it comes with a lens though. Not much sense in busting your balls for 10% more power.

Uhm, if i recall correctly, those units was used for IR C-Mount diodes for nightvision illuminators, and the lens have AR coating for IR (works decently for red, but not so good for other wavelenghts)

Also, FL of the lens is long, compared with our "usual" lenses ..... if you want a thin beam, you need to modify it, with an extra holder (anyway, if you have a lathe is easy to build a cylinder to fit inside the original lens holder, with a threaded hole at the end for host a glass Aixiz lens unit ..... or also a multiple lenses optical unit for beam correction and built.in expander, for "fat" beams with low divergence)

Thats what I was saying. You dont want to send the beam through another lens if your already have it collaminated and focused to infinity. But for $14 you could always replace the lens with only a disk with a hole for the beam to exit through.

Why would you want to put an Aixiz module in it? It's specifically designed for c-mounts; it would likely require additional machining. There are heat sinks available that fit the Aixiz for a similar price.

I agree but I assumed this post was aimed at the general public of LPF 99% of which dont mess with c-mounts.

I would love to tinker around with a 635nm C-mount though :beer:

If you are referring to my post, sorry ..... i was not saying to place an aixiz module inside it, i was just saying to use the original threaded focusing tube as a holder for a cylindrical retainer for a glass lens with short FL, like aixiz ones, for have a thinner beam (or, as alternative, to replace it with a machined tube that can retain the aixiz glass lenses in the bottom, and still come out enough in the front for permit you to focus the unit)

Or also, seeing all the space inside, you can build a disc threaded on the border, that can hold a semicylindrical lens in front of the diode (as FL corrector), and then use the original lens, or just the original lens holder with a different lens (like, for correct 445nm and other multimode diodes and get a "round" spot, as example)

I was planning something similar for an handheld unit too (round, not squared :p :D)

Lots of possibilities, with all that space, i suppose ;)
