I see deleted posts as spam and when I click the user name I see BANNED.
what more do you think needs to be done? IMHO our mods do a great job.

LPF is a large, high volume forum. Our mods do thier job for free. Spam brought to the attention of the mods gets taken care of PDQ.

i think they do a amazing job, i wasn't saying anything different. but i was just throwing up a idea to delete the threads completely. I was also letting them know if they needed help i have experience with forums and website design and to just let me know.

Not a good idea. The threads littered by spam still contain much usefully information and/or history that should be seen by all that come across them.

The mods here are fairly wise. If a thread needs to be completely deleted then it will be done, but if it has been not, it has been for a good reason.

I have brought this up many times before, however it is usually agreed that completely deleting posts can be abused, and has been before.

I do agree though that the spam deletion messages clog up the boards a bit.

^ That is not a post, it's a profile page (sort of ID chart of the user) ..... no need to delete them, and also, in this case (banned), you can sometime find informations about why they was banned, in the stats.

EDIT: also, keeping them in the database, prevent anyone to register with the same nickname, and being exchanged for the banned ones ;)

How ironic

Also, this thread reminded me of this one:

LPF has become a "SPAM friendly" place and that really should change in my opinion.
All SPAM threads need to be completely deleted or it promotes more SPAM to be posted.
Who cares if a spammer is banned, they are not real members and they themselves could care less as long as their spam sticks to the forum.
It really doesn't mean anything to ban the poster, they can create new accounts as fast as old ones are deleted.

The purpose of SPAM is to post advertisements to the company the poster is promoting.
When these advertisements are not deleted, the spammer wins, they get their free ad clogging up our forums basically forever. When other spammers see the spam is not removed, it draws them to post on the LPF and they tell other spammers that the LPF won't delete their ads.
If the ads were to be quickly deleted in full, then the spammer doesn't win and quickly goes elsewhere to post their garbage.

I for one would really like to see all the garbage taken out and deleted as quickly as it arrives, it's not rocket science and the spam level will die down to a slow trickle.

^^^ I Agree, but at the same time our moderators here do take the spammers and ban them, alot of the post though like others were saying are very useful information at the same time, but i see were your coming from, not to go off topic a bit but on my website spammers don't get to win cause i block there ip address so they cant make a new account, some have there pro's and some have there cons, if anything if they spam something about lasers they need to talk to one of the higher up (what i call the creator and moderators) and ask if the spammer can put a ad up, maybe even donate to have the ad up :).
