I like the USB model (low cost and my computer will keep the data anyways).
I like to see some focus (pun intended) on reporting software, maybe even include a library of reference data (products, glossery) perhaps interface with a website for reporting and updates. Be great to contribute to LPF with one click sharing.
I'm new to this forum and building lasers, but I can say that I'm short on time and I need things that have a "basic mode" just simple and fast. I'd also like a "demo mode" to help get me up to speed quickly.
You can add as many features to it as you wish and as you improve the software the only upgrade would be a download.
If you came up with major software and GUI upgrades (I'm sure you will get bombed with request and ideas) later you could sell the upgrades and have repeat customers at a much lower cost to them and you because no hardware would be involved. Just a download.
Not only would it be good for us but it would be a profitable idea for you as well.
^ but this require at least a hardware update ..... a programmer port for load the software updates (if the routine is not already in the usb management ) .....
All the hardware does is report the power output to the computer, so it wouldn't require any hardware updates. The software would still be receiving the same data over the com port.
That's the way we do it with the LaserBee I... it simplifies the
Software data grabs...
Reading the Posts here... I think some of the members think
that there will be 2 way communications between the Kenometer
and the Computer Software... with updates downloaded to the
Kenometer...
hahaha.. Oh god.. I want one of those meter. Heck I havn't had cuddly in a looong time.
I don't wanna give away too much but one of the suggested choices was to get EEpc's and gut them, and wire everything into a seperate box. flip up display...etc. would come with it's own gui, and the whole shebang.
