I just flew back on US Air from Philly today, and when they were loading the plane, they were announcing that some luggage may have to be checked due to room restrictions on the plane, and they specifically mentioned that no lithium batteries could be in checked luggage.

I hadn't heard this before, but I am wondering if the East Coast heat has caused issues for lithium batteries in checked luggage.

Anyway, just wanted to give a heads up.

They say that because if God forbid there's a lithium fire they need to know that it's a lithium fire so it can be dealt with accordingly. Lithium fires cannot be put out with water. Trying to do so would only make it 1000x worse.
