The only one I've seen is made by Jetlasers at Jetlasers.org. I haven't actually seen one in person and I don't think anyone here owns one either.

It's a lawsuit and criminal charges waiting to happen, if you dazzle someone and they claim headaches or vision loss afterwards, you can end up paying and in jail, or paying once your out of jail if you don't have savings, but it is a stupid risk to use a dazzler.

A bright flashlight, even one that strobes is still a flashlight, but if it is any kind of laser you put yourself at great risk if you point it at someone.

Actually a bright flashlight and pepper spray is a good option for self defense but check your local laws, I am not a lawyer.

I don't know if this JetLasers Dazzler is FDA certified, but start there if your serious, and even if it is you are still not safe to use it, but if it's not then it's an easy case against you.

I am very curious as to whether they would actually sell one to someone in the states. I certainly agree with Red about the huge risk involved if it's actually used.

There are plenty of flashlights with very good strobe modes that don't require anywhere near the same level of liability.

My bet is Jet would sell a dazzler, but they are not FDA certified in any way, and anything done with them would put the user in a bad position legally.

Pepper spray is also illegal in many locations. Nanny states NY/NJ come to mind.

I would kinda want one just for the novelty. I'd have no intention of actually dazzling people with it.

I have a feeling I'd use it once, and then never again, but I'd love to see one, and experience one being used on me (that is definitely safe!). Dazzlers just don't have much of an appeal considering you get a similar effect with a light, but far more utility, and less danger to the ones being dazzled.

I contacted jet laser and they will sell me one. The liability is a problem, googled them and they say their legal. But it may be old news, but it better to blind a person than kill them so, will be intesting to see what I find out. Will let everyone know what I learn. Thanks for all the input.

LOL, ask a cop if it's better to kill a home invader or just shoot out their knee caps. Well ask a cop that knows you so you get an honest answer.

Less than lethal is a admirable direction to go, but consider the aftermath, pepper spray is by far your best choice.

If we lived in a less litigious society it would certainly better to injure, and maim, rather than outright kill. Unfortunately that is not the world we live in, and it is far far better to kill an intruder. A dead suspect can't lie and contradict your story, and a dead suspect can't sue for damages.

Less than lethal, also absolutely does not mean non lethal. I absolutely abhor cops with how they act where tazers are concerned. They are not f**king toys, and they are dangerous to even a completely healthy adult male, let alone anyone on any medications, or other health issues. Yet cops taze away like there is no tomorrow because "it's less than lethal". Bullshit. A baton is also less than lethal, but apply it with though force and it will break bones, and cause death due to blunt force trauma.

And that's why I don't want cops dazzeling a crowd of protesters, some of them may get a lifelong disability. Besides it's our dam right to protest the azz raping we are getting from these elected fuker$.

Dazzlers would actually be a step back for cops. They have no qualms about firing tear gas grenades into people (not into a crowd, into individuals), or any qualms with sonic cannons, high pressure water hoses, and microwave beams. Ferguson also very clearly showed where the pigs in blue stand, in terms of not being shy at all, pointing guns an unarmed people.
