They ought to lock that kid up and throw away the key...at least until he is 18... ;D It was a nice plug for Wicked Lasers. But anyway, morons like that kid might ruin the hobby for the rest of us. And any kid knows better than to shine a laser at a pilot. What this kid was doing was intentional.

This is where the "AT RISK FALACY" comes into play. If one person in a 100,000 population is recless with something, Government must regulate and eliminate the device. Be it lasers, guns, knives, etc etc. Good by freedom -- thanks to the idiot.

It's nice in a way though, that his story and the resulting charges were posted to YouTube for all to see and learn from. He'll pay his time in juvie, but hopefully other kids, (and adults... wouldn't want to be ageist now...) :) will learn from this and realize what the potential costs of this kind of horseplay are.

I'm glad they caught him before he targeted some traffic chopper over the freeway and caused the chopper to take evasive maneuvers to keep hover. If someone causes a chopper to crash, then we're all in trouble.

Cheers, CC

Right on...we have way too much govt. regulation as it is. Some of it is good, and some of it is bad. Much of it is not needed and we pay for all of it at tax time.

The kid was being a total retard and he was INTENTIONALLY using a laser to harass police helicopters. I mean how dumb do you have to be to do that?

It reminds me of something that happened where I live a long time ago where some guys were using lasers to attack landing planes.

"The first was on Sept 22, 2004 where a beam of green light hit an aircraft approaching the Salt Lake
City airport in Utah. The incident caused retina burns on a first officer who has been temporarily removed from flight status."

Luckily nothing else has happened in a long time so people have forgotten about the above incident.

wow......I finished watching it and wow......
From HIS BACKYARD. He should of at least had the brains to do it from some random place.

Next there will be kids shooting airsoft guns at helicopters or something equally retarded.

stupid kid.
hope he learns the lesson
and hope he wont ruin it for us..
What they need to do is really make examples of these idiots to convince the other idiots that shining lasers at planes and copters is a serious crime. Simply banning lasers would be a lazy and ineffective solution.

Perhaps a giant warning engraved on all lasers saying that pointing them at planes = Felony and minimum of 1 year in prison would do the trick ;D

As a general rule I don't point my lasers into the sky if I see moving dots of light anywhere around the target area.
