Optotronics RPL-200 Tail Cap?

I recently ordered an RPL-200 from optotronics. I have a question about the adjustable tail cap. There are 9 levels of adjustment, but they will give a suggested level (normally 4 or 5) that allows for the brightest beam without over saturating the crystals which would create more heat. This also means that at the suggested level, there is no duty cycle. Anyway, will burning be increased at level 9 than at the suggested level?

Thanks

Actually, both have IR filters and from what I understand a pure green laser (one with IR filter) is actually brighter than one without filter. This is because a 200mW laser without IR filter may only put out 150mW or so of 532nm and the rest IR. Not so with filtered laser.

Not everything is perfect. You cannot expect to have a 200mW green laser, with 150mW of green and 50 of IR, put a filter in there and get 150mW of green and kill the IR off!! The filter blocks IR, but some of the green goes together. I think optotronics would cut off 5% at most.. IMO their ratings are 'green light after IR filter'...

Yes I was just giving an example of what the 532nm vs IR COULD be. From what I have heard, Optotronics is good about over specing their lasers.
