Is O-Like a good company?

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing another laser, and I am looking towards another site besides Wicked Lasers because of their latest troubles. With Wicked Lasers I ordered a 130mW Evolution Pro, and they dropped the charge from my card twice, so apparently I have to look elsewhere. I do trust Wicked Lasers, I have ordered from them in the past, but their recent customer service is embarrassing. :yabbem:

Anyways, I am looking at other websites with good reputations, and I have heard of O-Like. I have several questions about the company. I was wondering how shipping is because I live in the United States (don't want my laser stuck in customs). Are their laser power specifications representative of what they say (is a 150mw TRULY a 150mw). What is the quality like compared to Wicked Lasers, and better yet how is their customer service? Shipping speed for U.S?

I just want to make sure I will not be scammed.

Usually they post the output you WILL get on the specs of the laser. For example, they'll say the range on a 150mW may be 135-150mW, and you'll get in that range.

There's always variance but they're pretty close. o-Like is not a scamming company, but a few folks on the forum has said ther QC has gone down a little. (I haven't sene this.)

Customer service is FAR, FAR better than WL. Shipping to the US is about 2 weeks but I've seen things arrive in 1.

I've ordered 5 lasers from them and have never had a problem that they didn't take care of immediately.

I thinking of getting the 200mw 808nm Infrared laser. How powerful is it and how visible is it. What is their best laser for the price?

808nm is hardly visible. and dangerous at higher powers. it will burn your eyes without them reacting to brightness because there will be only a faint red coming out of it, so you pupils will not constrict causing greater damage.
You should read up on this. This forum is filled with very useful information and answers to all the questions you have asked. Make sure you read all the stickies too

and welcome! :wave::wave::wave:

EDIT: make sure you also read on laser safety! on anything greater than 5 mW goggles are recommended. on anything greater than 30mW goggles are a MUST!

How visible is the o-like red beam?

If visibility is what you are after, go for green. which is what our eyes see as brightest for the least amount of power. Nothing will beat it if it goes against another wavelength with the same power. i would recommend a 50mW greenie. You can buy the pointers from o-like, or buy a module, like this one and put it in a flashlight housing.

there are members here that sell DIY kits also which are simple and great to start with!

How visible is the o-like red beam?

I would also suggest going with green if visabilty is your goal. The beam of a 200mw of red is not very visible except in near perfect dark or with smoke. But if you ask me red is one of my favorite colors and the dot can light up a room in red.

Is rayfoss better than o-like?

I had a good experience with both. They both answered emails within 24hours. Product arrived as advertised in about 3 weeks +or- days.

Here is a pic of my 200mw red with a lot of smoke.

I purchased a 50 mW green laser. It outputs at 62mW. O-like is good.

EDIT: Via skype I was able to contact Suzy live, and she is on about 5 hours a day.

Also my package arrived in about a week once shipped. Took 3-4 days to get a tracking # though.
