Maybe all you "laser-pros" can raise money and have someone test it like you did for other diodes? :D

Im subscribing, this could be interesting. If I ever have the money one day, might consider getting one.

Actually, pushing causes more than a slight wavelength increase. 3 to 5 nm would be a reasonable range if they behave like other blue multi modes.

It would be nice if these red shift a lot...although i cant imagine they do, else why would Nichia sell them as something different from the 476? At that point, you would have overdriven diode A being the same as normal or underdriven diode B- basically the same thing.

They would sell them separately because the goal is to not have to overdrive them.

They are supposed to last thousands of hours at spec current. Overdriving them just decreases that life dramatically.

I almost want to wait on RHD's findings ... but it's shipping from China ...

I guess I should be patient.

It won't be a review, it will be an "okay, diode arrived, here's the wavelength" post, and a screen capture of the chart. ;)

I gonna take the dive too. Can't let all you guys have the fun without me. I'm glad I lost my bid war on that recent 473 DPSS 150mW lab unit on eBay. This will be way better for the plans I have for it. Cheaper too. Great discovery! Deserves a good repping...
