Hi all, I heard lots of pros here so come here for helps. I currently wan build a laser heater using 1450nm diode. I've got a c-mount diode but have no idea how to use it. I also got a constant current driver for 3A current n my laser diode is 2W. Can someone tell me what other things I need to buy and relevent setup? Thanks alot~

If you could list the parts used by model number or provide links to where you purchased them that would be great. We need to know more specs in order to help you out.

Going to need power source good batteries that will be able to supply that 3amp draw from your driver.

I wouldn't reccomend a cmount for a first build but then again I've never tried on I believe its "oldschool." Direct diodes are super cheap and easily mountable.

And last but not least Safety glasses. Something like these to attenuate the wavelength your using.

Power source will be easier to come up with once OP identifies the driver/diode with a link or P/N.

I generally wouldn't recommend a C-mount either - but that's just because they are a little different to work with and mounting hardware is somewhat less readily available than our regular 3.8/5.6/9mm diodes. Not really old school - The more powerful DPSS handhelds all use them, and labbies up to a certain power, as well as some of the more powerful red diode handhelds/labbies. Also - C-mount is direct diode, just a different way of packaging it.

Those glasses are no good - but Survival does carry glasses for the wavelength OP is using.

These:

Eagle Pair® 190-540nm & 800-2000nm Laser Safety Goggles

Or these:

Eagle Pair® 190-540nm & 900-1700nm Laser Safety Goggles

@@OP - What is your application? I.e. what are you trying to heat?

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I cant find the link so I will juz list out what I have can?
I got a 1450nm 2W laser diode from a company called wavespectrum, a 3A5V constant current driver borrow from my fren, a 12V DC source, a 1450 collimating lens from wavelength. I currently dun have heat sink suitable...so any suggesting? thanks

You know I actually thought 1450nm was a typo. Guess we also need to know what the scope of this laser build is.

The diode is use to build a thermal cycler for MEMS system, I wan to use it to heat up water for uL volume and thats why use 1450nm

Actually I juz wan know if I scew the laser diode with heatsink n fan, then connect with the driver, will it works? coz I also never handle c-mount diode b4...anyway thanks for you guidence a lot!
