I've constructed the driver circuit and used a 3 pin red flat diode. The beam produced is so big.is there a specific type of lens needed in case I'm not using an aixiz module? Please help me.

here are the pictures of the light emitted and our circuit.

Yes, you will need a lens to colimate the beam. Almost any lens will work, even a magnifying glass (With huge losses), Aixiz modules are preferred because the lens is specially designed for this purpose.

I see.thank you.:). I have another concern. The light of our laser diode suddenly became weak. What are the possible causes of this?

Bad contact, bad batteries, killed diode. In order of probability.

Well, it's not in much of a heatsink at all, so it is very possible it is suffering from thermal death.

Welcome aboard! Don't forget to get some Laser Safety Glasses, and the search function here can be your best friend; don't forget to read the Stickies.

Gee... that pre-packaged Welcome sure helped a lot...:gj:
Trying to increase your post count...

That being said....

1) check that your batteries are fully charged or fresh
2) check that no wires came loose on your breadboard
3) if all that checks out.. your Laser Diode has probably
been damaged...

Many forums have "self-appointed" greeters that post the same greeting over and over, Jerry.

Lots of NooB's need/want these generic "welcomes."

Read back through the many NooBs' posts in the welcome section

You will see repetitious greetings all through it.

There is only so much that one can say to someone that is as yet unknown

Peace,
dave

I agree... it is not about the same greeting... this is not the
Welcome section...
I've been know to use some same greetings myself..... ;)

More to the point... the new member asked for help....

It won't hurt to welcome him here but I'm convinced it did
not help answer the members questions...IMO :cryyy:

I was about to reply saying that all the flat package diodes I have tested seemed to run fine for a minute or two and then poof. The heatsink they were in was not even warm. Then I saw this reply. I would bet it has gone to heaven.

What current were you giving to the diode?

Several members already had given him advice, so I gave him a "Welcome" since he stated "Newbie here" Rather then say "Hey post an introduction in the Welcome section first" I gave him a warm greeting instead, no reason to breath anything else into it.

Peace
