Hey so I need a laser to kill aiptasia in my fish tank. I have a bunch of sony VTC5 18650's so I would like to be able to use those. Im thinking I need 1.5w + in order to kill these damn things. I have a budget around $150. Can anyone suggest something that would work for me? I live in Rhode Island USA so something I could purchase domestically would be great. :D

it should be done for about 100. if you aren't looking for a fancy laser to carry around, you can be way under budget and make your own "ddl lm317" driver, buy an aixiz module with lens (like 5 bucks) a radio shack small plastic project box a battery holder that fits your 18650, and a 445 diode. since youll want good power, id suggest a heat sink from one of our members that will accept the aixiz.

check the laser pro shop, and bst section.... a semi quick way now would be to get a bunch of peppermint shrimp, I've also heard that a syringe with vinegar and inject it into to the aiptasia works too. if you go the injection route, turn off your pumps

I think that wont be powerful enough. How big is your tank? This has come up here before at least a couple of times. It probably wont work good enough at 1.5W.

I can't get peppermint shrimp my fire shrimp would kill them in 2 seconds. I've been injecting lemon juice for months and they just keep multiplying!! 40 breeder.

I hope you didn't forget goggles! Pointing a 2W blue laser into a reflective fish tank will fry your eyes for good if you aren't wearing goggles.

Here is a good pair: Eagle Pair® 190-540nm Standard Laser Safety Goggles

Make sure you read up a bit on laser safety before firing up your new beast!

That being said, you will not be disappointed with your laser from Blord! :)
