the coolest person at the [star wars] convention

Oxymoron there... :p

Spend some time working out what is actually feasible using hobbyist tech today, then come back and work out if you're still interested in sticking around, even after realising that we still lag a good few decades behind Sci-Fi in some aspects.

If you're a troll, congratulations. You managed to create a pretty impressive character.

Kingdave thank you. HA should have put yoda doin a facepalm. He would be upset then

Lol, there are plenty more of these facepalm pics online, just google image search falcepalm.

For some reason though I never cared much for starwars, just wasnt that interesting to me, I do love star trek alot though, mainly TNG, but original series was the classic best! But I am not one of those weirdos that goes to conventions or anything, just like the show:p

Thats good I never watched it much but my grandparents are big on it. Good to hear there is no attending a convention. Laser convention might be legit though

Alright there's no need to down talk me and post these rude pictures.

I came on this site hoping to find people with similar interests to me. There's absolutely no reason to make fun of me.

Now for the serious folk, Can anyone provide me with an already built laser that i can borrow? If someone would like to send me one of there toys I'd surely appreciate it. Once i become a master laser craftsman i can return the favor and send you some lasers also.

Does it never occur to people that if it were possible to build a true light saber then someone would have done it here and posted it? I mean, they may not be the, 'coolest', thing in the world, far from it, but as a community we wouldn't have been able to help ourselves would we?

And as for this quote back there on page one...

Thank you all for the wonderfully well written responses...

... Thank you all for enlightening me that lasers can harm people because it slipped my mind and i feel silly about it

There are so many things wrong with this picture.

Buzz Lightyear never, ever, ever had a light saber! Sheesh! [sarcasm turned up to 11]

:)

P.S. The lending library is empty at the moment.

Is this how you treat new people in the laser craft? You taunt them and call them names?

I've been nothing but nice and would appreciate the same. It's disheartening to hear that nobody would like to lend me a laser. But that's fine i know it must be hard to give away something that you probably put a lot of time and work into, even if it's for a temporary amount of time.

I completely understand that current technology doesn't offer the capability to build a fully functioning laser.

I've watched a few youtube videos and have seen people create wonderful replicas

YouTube - Ryan VS Brandon

If you watch that video i think those two have created non lethal light saber replicas.

But I've decided to give up on the light saber for now and just focus on mastering normal lasers for now. I posted a picture in my first post of my current laser, are there any upgrades i can add to it that would give it more power? Or should i purchase a completely new laser and practice disassembling it than putting it back together.

Any normal replies would be appreciated, please no flaming.
