I've took a quick look around the forums and saw nothing about it yet so I thought I'd share...
as of today (or whenever the 18th is in china) they are now not shipping lasers over 5mw to the u.s. at all.
I think...

I know the old warning was a "friendly reminder" but I think this new one is a bit more serious (being that it is paypal forcing them to not send them)

-------------------------
The following information relates to United States customers and USA orders only. Other customers may ignore this thread.

New USA government (FDA) regulations enforced by PayPal are now in effect affecting USA Customers who have recently purchased lasers greater than 5mW (excluding 5mW) and USA customers who plan to purchase lasers greater than 5mW.

Due to new regulations enforced by the US FDA and PayPal, orders of lasers units greater than 5mW shipped to the United States are no longer accepted. Orders of 5mW or less is still accepted and unaffected by this regulation. If you are located in the United States, it is legally required that you DO NOT order lasers greater than 5mW.

also, the page for the dilda now shows the new warning on the right.

now would be a good time to petition for them to carry good empty laser modules...

all I know is DX probably wont ship them anymore. I am unsure about any other sites, but its a guess that they can't ship 5+mw ones if you use paypal

so somebody should recommend to DX that they should use a different service for recieving payments. I mean for crying out loud they probably do millions of dollars worth of business. Why hand that money over to paypal to slice a chunk off of? It would be phenomenally easy for them to get some kind of credit card processing service that's tons cheaper than paypal.

the consumer is attracted to paypal because its a guarantee you'll get what you pay for (friends have gone to them when they had trouble through ebay and got money back from junk items)
what else -is- there?

I would like another pay service for them because I wanted a 30mw green pen from them =[
at least I found a forum like this in time :)

*goes to make noobish thread on modding my dilda*

do you think DX has stopped selling over 5mW because the FDA has outlawed them? or because paypal stopped accepting payments of lasers over 5mW? it makes a huge difference if it's the FDA or Paypal.
If it is the FDA, and KaiDomain still allows their lasers to be shipped to USA, this doesnt stop stop our lasers from getting confiscated!

Leave it to paypal to play "big brother",
I thought their angle was "profit"!!!

Maybe our UK members can middle man our purchases?

are you sure it's entirely paypal behind this? wouldn't the FDA have something to do with it too?

for a "food and drug" administration they seem to regulate quite a bit more than the name implies :p they kinda regulate all goods and services and more! they need a name that better suits them such as THE REGULATION ADMINISTRATION
