After lurking on Wicked Lasers site, i began to dig a little deeper and eventually ended up here on this forum. I had no idea there were so many companies offering high powered lasers. From what i have see, wicked lasers is not a fav here lol. I was about to buy the Inferno for $149.00 after using the PROMO code. Is that a good first buy? What may be a better suggestion for the same price ($149.00) What im looking for is basically what all the Inferno offers. I just dont want to have buyers remorse if there is a better deal out there. Thank you guys in advanced. I can't wait to learn and get deeper into this hobby!

Do you want the smart switch or is a key switch fine?
Key switch is fine, I read up a bit more and what i really want is a green laser with good steady beam and long range. I dont care for burning power, as this is my first laser.

Check laserbtb.com
I have no idea what im looking for as for specs. I dont understand the (mW) (Wm) and the other terms yet. Any suggestions for a steady beam with long range? Forgive my lack of knowledge, I learn quickly and appreciate your response.

Lack of knowledge is fine. <5mw lasers are your typical lasers pointers (class 3a). 5mw-500 is class 3b, and you should wear goggles when operating. Above 500mw with no upper limit is class 4 lasers which will cause immediate eye damage if directed into eye or direct reflections. You must wear goggles at this power.

Color is determined by wavelength. 405nm is purple, 445 is blue, 520 and 532 are green, 635 is bright red. 650 is a dimmer more pink red.

The human eye is most sensitive to green because it is right in the middle of the visible spectrum. That means that a 5mw 532nm will appear brighter than a 5mw 650nm or 445nm.

532nm laser use a procces known as diode pumped solid state to create the light color. eBay lasers don't have filters so they can be dangerous in green wavelengths.

A good laser with good range is this.

LP 515nm 532nm 1-150

It's more of a pen but good if your just starting out. Don't buy a 1 watt laser to start, get used to safety with a laser like this.

Make sure you wear goggles though for class 3b and above.

I hope this helped. Ask any questions you have.

Thank you for the very helpful info. I will make sure to buy some good quality goggles with whatever laser i choose. I have noticed that safety is first and foremost here on the forum and that is great. That's how you can tell if someone is serious about there hobby. Thank you.
