New, Good Inexpensive Host?

I saw this as a new item for DX last week -

DealExtreme: $4.60 7-LED White Light LED Flashlight with Strap - Black (3*AAA)

Does this look like a good inexpensive host?

Unlike most flashlights of this type, the head screws off.

And it takes 3xAAA, so I'm thinking you could put 10440's in there, and be able to drive damn near anything with just a linear driver!

I ordered one last week - will post a review when I get it.

Thoughts?

I don't see why it wouldn't work, i personally don't care for its appearence,
but thats my opinion. Its what ever you want so go for it.

Well, I've also got a WF-501B on the way.

But I've got a lot of projects & experiments right now, and not every one needs to be in a gold-plated or $200 sterling silver host -

I figured a workable host at this price point might be handy.

Plus, most popular hosts nowadays are single-cell, thus requiring an expensive boost driver in most cases.

With this one, a boost driver is not required, saving even more $.

Won't know for sure how good it is until I receive, and had a chance to review it.

But given that it's a new product at DX, I figured I'd give ppl the heads-up, for those who might be interested.
