Re: New Astronomy members group

I guess this thread is the discussion place for the astronomy and lasers group ?

I am a very amateur, casual backyard astronomer, with a humble 60mm refractor, an Edmund Astroscan wide-field telescope, and a few pair of binoculars the best being a 10x50.

As amateur as I may be as an astronomer, I have always been in awe of the view of creation in the night sky on clear nights away from the light pollution that blocks the view in many areas and keeps many people from seeing the night sky as it really is.

I also have some mylar type filters designed for solar astronomy, I got the material long ago and made filters to cover both my 60mm scope as well as my binoculars. (please make sure any solar filters anyone uses is of material specifically designed for solar observation)

My humble 5mw green laser will have to do for now for star pointing as the 50mw I received yesterday (and hope will be replaced by the company with a good one) was noticeable dimmer than my 5mw I already owned :-/

Yep, but it was just received yesterday, it was ordered back on Oct. 11th, and after all that waiting it was very disappointing to have it be noticeably a lot dimmer than my 5mw, I am hoping they will send a good replacement, but time will tell for sure :undecided:

+ Rep for you for starting the Astronomy group - Thanks ! :thanks:

(I just recently started becoming more familiar with some of how to use some of the features on LPF like "Reps" and "Signatures")
