There's a kickstarter happening to make Photo-lithographic printers for $100.
They are also asking for help from laser enthusiast on improving the process.

He made his own Galvos, probably quite a bit slower than 30K though. I wonder if a set of cheap 12-25k galvos would be better?

holy crap that sounds amazing...i have access to a filament fed 3D printer...we got it for science olympiad at my school, which I'm part of , and it has helped tremendously. being able to draw up a part in CAD then just print it into existence is fantastic! I have been looking at building a rep-rap, the opensource filament printer community, but i haven't built one yet. having an open source photo-lithographic printer would be awesome...thanks for the post! :)

WOW that is amazing, and it has SMASHED it's tiny goal of 50,000! I really hope this goes mainstream, hopefully it will push this sort of technology further making it cheaper for us!

Neat, I wonder how reliable it is though, their xy system looks questionable.
