Neje 1000mW DIY Laser USB ENGRAVER Cutter Engraving Carving Machine Printer D7H5 | eBay

Has anyone got one of these to try them out? I know the working area is very small, but even so this price is insane if the thing even works a little bit. I could engrave some neat little pieces of wood, or upgrade the laser and maybe do other cool things.... Wonder if the reviews online are complete BS or if it even halfway works.

Should I take a chance and try it?

Shoot, even this one looks cool... the parts are a little intimidating though. Would be sweet if I could engrave lasers.

I'd love to get something like this, but reading through the specs it only has a work area of 38x38mm. That can't be right and seems very small, only 1.5x1.5"? Is that normal? I guess it is a starter though and for small projects would be cool to have. I know very little when it comes to laser engravers but watching utube videos, it looks like it could be fun to start engraving everything my house.

I was looking at some with a work area of 12"x12" but then the price of the ones I wanted steered me away. I don't really have a use but I can come up with something!!

Yep, I've bought one a few months ago. I like it, and I made a thread about it:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/mini-laser-engraving-machine-97498.html

The statement about the work area of 38mm is correct, it's engraving sizes are very limited. By the way, don't get it from eBay, they're cheaper on fasttech and they have faster shipping + better service. As cheap as chinese quality crap is, it actually engraves really nicely as long as you have all the settings correct. Also, depending on the seller and the way they distribute software can be a pain in the ass but in the end it's a nice mini machine. Very small machine, total volume of about roughly 6" cubed.

Edit: Those mini milling machines are kinda crap, for one the motor is extremely under-powered for the operations you'd do on it, it's no more powerful than a dremel, in fact probably less powerful. You'd be better off getting a drill press and a milling table, and there's no way I'd pay 260$ for that POS lol. Maybe if it had a stronger brushless motor I'd consider it to be better quality, because the build itself isn't bad being completely metal. Also not to mention you can get a 3D printer for that money which has a much larger range on it and you could attach some sort of milling device on it if you really wanted to, and then just feed it g-code.

Thanks for the advice, I don't think it was out of stock when I posted it but only getting ideas about the laser engraving machines really. The milling machine I would ditch the milling device and attach the laser, really only interested in the 3 axis and frame as I will replace the other stuff with my driver and diode.
