I didn't bother to read the entire argument. People are right though. If someone new tries to ask a question, they are often hit with trolling posts to make fun or slap their wrist for asking, instead of finding it in the forum search.

1. The forum's search feature isn't exactly google and it can sometimes be hard to find something. I often have trouble even when I know EXACTLY what i'm looking for.

2. If I were to ask a college professor a question, and all he ever replied with was, "You can find it in your text book, i'm not going to spoon feed you the information." I'd get irritated very quickly and begin wondering why he was even there.

3. If you are taking the time to reply to a person's honest question with insults, it's just trolling. You could of simply answered the question in the same amount of time and come off as a helpful person instead of someone with a chip on their shoulder.

If you want to help the person out and answer their question, then great! It makes you a better asset to this community. If you only intend to bash on the new members then don't bother posting at all.

With that said, I do my fair share of bashing, but I normally try to keep it confined to chinese spammers and the "wtf he just say?" threads.

Actually, you know what, this makes me want to change my stance on things around here. I am a fairly new member, but I did learn a bit about lasers in the last few years. And, although it is irritating at times to see repetitive questions, from now on I'll restrain any mean remarks I might have and I'll try to help as many new members as I can whenever I see a question.
Glad to hear it man, you're awesome!

Very true.

It's why I started taking up the answering of questions, on self-initiative.

Both Jerry and Eud are invaluble, trusted and knowledgeable members. Sometimes though buttons get pushed, after all, we're only human :)

It's been requested that I close this thread, so close it I will.

Peace out.
